The Breast DCIS Score is a genomic test—it looks at the activity of tumor genes. Specifically, the Breast DCIS Score tests a group of cancer-related genes in your tumor tissue. These genes can provide information about how your tumor might behave in the future, including how likely it is to grow and spread. It provides an individualized assessment for the risk of local recurrence. Performed on a tumor sample after a biopsy or surgery, the test looks at 12 cancer-related genes in your patient’s tumor—giving you information that clinical and pathologic factors alone can’t provide. In fact, the test shows that patients with similar clinical and pathologic features do not necessarily have the same local recurrence risk.
