TLRs' mRNA expression was analyzed using real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Our results indicate the potential significance of TLR3, TLR4 and TLR8 in responding to HPV infection and its progression to SILs and CC, highlighting the importance of HPV polyinfection in relation to TLR4 and TLR8.

The heightened expression of METTL5 in CRC is strongly associated with clinicopathological features and a poor prognosis, thereby underscoring its potential utility as a critical marker for facilitating early diagnosis and prognostication in CRC.
Significant increase in TRL4 was seen in BM zone of sample colonized with Candida (P = 0.01). According to the limited number of samples, our data indicates downregulation of TLRs and NF-κB in OSCC, and upregulation of TLR4 expression with presence of Candida.

This work represents a proof of concept that the pool of extracellular miRNAs overexpressed in RA joints can act as a physiological activator of inflammation via the stimulation of TLR8 expressed by human DCs, which in turn exert arthritogenic functions. In this scenario, pharmacological inhibition of TLR8 might offer a new therapeutic option to reduce inflammation and osteoclast-mediated bone destruction in RA.

In conclusion, the role of HPV in OC and OPC is minor, and p16 constitutes a poor biomarker for HPV positivity in Kerala, India. Intracellular TLRs are correlated with the degree of inflammation in OPC but not in OC and may potentially constitute a medical target in the therapy of HNC in the future.
