Higher overall survival rates of oral squamous cell carcinoma treated with metronomic neoadjuvant chemotherapy. (PubMed, Am J Cancer Res)
The vessel marker CD31 was highly expressed in poorly differentiated OSCC, whereas the anti-angiogenic molecule, LCN2, which is induced by the activation of the Wnt pathway, was highly expressed in well-differentiated OSCC. The present study showed that overall survival rates were higher in patients with poorly or moderately differentiated OSCC who received metronomic neoadjuvant chemotherapy, which was attributed to a difference in angiogenesis based on the characteristic landscape of pathogenic mutations according to histological differentiation.

Targeting Wnt signaling for improved glioma immunotherapy. (PubMed, Front Immunol)
We also observed differential gene expression and induced immune cell infiltration in tumors pretreated with ICG-001 and then treated with CAR T cells as compared with single treatment groups or when ICG-001 treatment was administered after CAR T cell therapy. We conclude that specific Wnt/CBP/β-catenin antagonism results in pleotropic changes in the glioma TME, including glioma stem cell differentiation, modulation of the stroma, and immune cell activation and recruitment, thereby suggesting a possible role for enhancing immunotherapy in glioma patients.

Targeting Antheraea pernyi silk fibroin modified dual-gene coexpressing vector enhances gene transport and promotes lung tumor suppression. (PubMed, Int J Biol Macromol)
The in vivo treatment of H460 human lung carcinoma xenograft tumors showed that the dual-gene coexpressing vector suppressed the proliferation of lung tumor cells by downregulating the expression of Ki67 and Bcl-2, promoted apoptosis by upregulating the expression of C Caspase-3 and Bax, and blocked tumor angiogenesis by downregulating the expression of VEGF and CD31, thus exerting a multichannel tumor inhibition effect. Surface modification of Ad with targeted cationic silk fibroin is an effective way to solve the natural tendencies and in vivo instability of adenovirus vectors, and such vectors have potential for clinical application.

Consistent with these data, an immune checkpoint inhibitor (anti-PD-L1 antibody) markedly increased the therapeutic efficacy of combined IR and CRT-targeting L-ASNases. CRT-specific L-ASNases are useful as additive drug candidates in tumors treated with RT, and combination treatment with anti-PD-L1 antibody increases their therapeutic efficacy.

Therefore, QACR is a promising new therapeutic strategy for treating hepatocellular carcinoma.
