Intracellular bacteria modulate the immune microenvironment of oral squamous cell carcinoma. (PubMed, Cell Rep)
However, intracellular bacteria weaken the communication between cDC1 and these immune cells, potentially reducing therapeutic efficacy. Our study provides a foundation for further investigation into the mechanisms by which intracellular bacteria mediate effective responses to NICB in OSCC.

Transcriptome biomarkers of colon cancer liver metastasis response to neoadjuvant triplet chemotherapy: a case series. (PubMed, J Circ Biomark)
The triplet FOLFOXIRI (fluorouracil, leucovorin, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan) may be considered an effective option in the neoadjuvant setting for metastatic colon cancer (mCRC). Data obtained indicate transcriptional discordance between the primary tumors and liver metastases during neoadjuvant FOLFOXIRI, with the pattern of DEGs involved in their response being distinct. The EPS8L2 transcript could be regarded as a candidate biomarker of liver complete response; however, prognostic conclusions cannot be drawn from this cohort.

IL-17-producing γδ T cells in the tumor microenvironment promote radioresistance in mice. (PubMed, J Clin Invest)
Mechanistically, radiotherapy-induced tumor cell-derived microparticles containing dsDNA activated the cGAS-STING/NF-κB signaling pathway in macrophages, upregulating the expression of the chemokine CCL20, which was critical for γδ T cell recruitment. Targeting γδ T cells and IL-17A enhanced radiosensitivity and improved the efficacy of radiotherapy combined with anti-PD-1 immunotherapy, providing potential therapeutic strategies to overcome radioresistance.

Genome-wide interaction study of physical activity and genetic susceptibility on colorectal cancer using UK biobank data. (PubMed, Sci Rep)
At the gene and pathway levels, RNASEL, NSD1, and efferocytosis showed nominal signals, although none reached statistical significance after correction. Although we could not find associations that met the significance threshold after adjusting for multiple testing, these preliminary findings help us to understand the interplay between genes and lifestyle in CRC.

Exploring the zinc-binding proteins in the mutational hotspots of human cancer. (PubMed, J Trace Elem Med Biol)
The analysis of mutations in the Zn ion binding sites of the ZBPs revealed that mutations affect the proteins' structure, function, and binding affinity, potentially leading to cancer. Investigating mutations in the Zn binding sites of these proteins will pave the way for cancer treatments by enhancing our understanding of their role in cancer spread and invasion.

Determination of survival associated genetic biomarkers to discover novel therapeutic targets for acute myeloid leukaemia. (PubMed, J Chemother)
Drug repurposing using the LINCS L1000CDS2 database highlighted potential therapeutics, including 16-Hydroxytriptolide and Tryptosthin AG-1478, with roles in reversing hazardous gene expression patterns. Additional candidates such as Vemurafenib, Parthenolide and Wortmannin, demonstrated promise as targeted agents. These findings underscore the potential of integrating bioinformatics and drug discovery to identify precision medicine in AML. Further studies are warranted to validate these targets and explore their clinical utility.
