WIPF1 regulates stemness in small cell lung cancer. (PubMed, Sci Prog)
Next, we adopted RNA interference techniques to investigate the effects of WIPF1 on colony and sphere-formation capacity, as well as cisplatin sensitivity in SCLC cells...Upregulation of WIPF1 in sphere-formed cells, relative to differentiated ones, indicated that it plays an important role in the tumorigenesis of SCLC. Moreover, this process is mediated by the YAP/TAZ pathway, suggesting that it may be a potential therapeutic target for SCLC.

Predicting prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma by predicting TIGIT expression: a pathomics model. (PubMed, J Thorac Dis)
Increased abundance of G2/M checkpoint-related genes (MARCKS, CASP8AP2) and infiltration of CD8+ T cells and M2 macrophages were noted in the high PS group (P<0.05). TIGIT expression is significantly correlated with LUAD prognosis and can effectively predict patient outcomes.

Multifaceted role of the actin-binding protein WIP: Promotor and inhibitor of tumor progression and dissemination. (PubMed, Cytoskeleton (Hoboken))
Interestingly, a minority of studies suggest a protective role for WIP in specific tumor contexts. These data support the need for further research to fully understand the mechanisms underlying WIP's diverse functions in health and disease and raise important questions for future work.

WIPF1 promotes gastric cancer progression by regulating PI3K/Akt signaling in a myocardin-dependent manner. (PubMed, iScience)
Rescue experiments confirmed that MYOCD promotes the proliferation, invasion, and migration of GC cells in a WIPF1-dependent manner and activates the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. MYOCD may transactivate WIPF1 and facilitate GC cell growth and metastasis by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
