WTAP-mediated N6-methyladenosine modification of UQCRQ promotes mitochondrial ROS and inflammatory response in microglia after intracerebral hemorrhage. (PubMed, Biochem Biophys Res Commun)
Further analysis demonstrated that insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 1 (IGF2BP1) binds UQCRQ mRNA, enhancing its stability and protein expression, counteracting the effects of WTAP knockdown on cell viability, mitochondrial ROS, and inflammation. Our findings suggest that WTAP contributes to neuronal damage via UQCRQ in an m6A-IGF2BP1-dependent manner after OGD/H, indicating that targeting WTAP/m6A/IGF2BP1 downregulation could protect neuronal function after ICH.
