Fine-needle aspiration and effusion cytology of thoracic SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumor and SMARCA4-deficient non-small cell lung carcinoma: A multi-institutional experience with 27 patients. (PubMed, Cancer Cytopathol)
Although there is considerable clinical and cytopathologic overlap between SD-UT and SD-NSCLC, some key features allow for their distinction. SD-UT is mostly discohesive with rhabdoid or mixed rhabdoid-epithelioid features, whereas SD-NSCLC often has cohesive epithelioid morphology. The combination of clinical presentation, cytomorphology, and immunohistochemistry is essential for a definitive diagnosis.

Intrapulmonary Biphasic Mesothelioma Misdiagnosed as Adenocarcinoma: Case Report and a Potential Diagnostic Pitfall. (PubMed, Onco Targets Ther)
The patient was treated with a chemotherapy regimen of pemetrexed and carboplatin. Mesothelioma with predominantly intrapulmonary growth is extremely rare and poses a diagnostic pitfall. For this entity, subtle morphological features, selection of immunohistochemical markers, and electron microscopy are of great significance for definite diagnosis.

Solitary subependymal giant cell astrocytoma lacking TSC1/2 mutations and TTF-1 expression: A potential diagnostic pitfall. (PubMed, Neuropathology)
This case highlights the potential diagnostic pitfall of SEGA lacking TTF-1 expression and emphasizes the importance of considering this entity in the differential diagnosis of intraventricular tumors, even in the absence of TS and characteristic molecular alterations. The existence of TTF-1 negative SEGAs reveals that these tumors might also derive from TTF-1 negative cells in the subpendymal region.

SOUR AND SWEET: A CASE OF CONCURRENT NEOPLASMS, MALIGNANT AND BENIGN (CHEST 2024)
At this time the patient was started on carboplatin, paclitaxel, and pembrolizumab. Despite incomplete staining results this case demonstrates possible concurrent PEComa and squamous cell lung cancer.

A Curious Case of Clear Cell Morphology in a Patient with Lung Cancer: Diagnostic Challenges. (PubMed, Prague Med Rep)
Next-generation sequencing for the salivary gland fusion panel, including EWSR1-ATF1 fusion and EWSR1 gene rearrangement for HCCC and MAML2 gene rearrangements for MEC, was negative. She was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer favouring squamous cell carcinoma with clear cell phenotype, a rare entity.

A Unique Case of Oncocytic Thyroid Cancer With an NBN Gene Pathogenic Variant (ENDO 2024)
Due to disease progression, lenvatinib was initiated...Zoledronic acid was initiated for the treatment of the skeletal metastases, and palliative external beam radiation (2000 cGy in 5 fractions) was administered to the sternal lesion to alleviate the bone pain... The NBN gene encodes for the protein nibrin, a member of the MRE11/RAD50 complex that is involved in DNA repair. PVs in NBN are commonly identified in non-thyroidal malignancies such as breast and lung carcinomas. While NBN PVs are rarely reported in DTCs, as per our knowledge, this is the first described case of OTC with a PV in NBN as the molecular driver, manifesting with an aggressive disease course.

Glioblastomas may be susceptible to intratumoral metastasis due to the proliferating leaky vascular channels, however, the short survival of patients with glioblastoma may be responsible for the rarity of this occurrence. A Case of Resection of T2N0 Colon Cancer with Synchronous Solitary Lung Metastasis (PubMed, Gan To Kagaku Ryoho)
The pulmonary mass was diagnosed as a metastatic adenocarcinoma based on immunostaining examination(CK7: negative, CK20: positive, TTF-1: negative, and CDX-2: positive). The patient is currently under follow-up as an outpatient without recurrence.
