Alzheimer's disease multi-ancestry genome-wide interaction and stratified study with smoking. (PubMed, Alzheimers Dement)
Among smokers only, a novel chromosome 12 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) near ANKS1B was associated with Alzheimer's disease. Evidence came from European and African ancestry cohorts. RNA-sequencing analyses implicated the top SNP as causal via ANKS1B expression in oligodendrocytes. A genome-wide African ancestry-specific significant SNP-smoking interaction was observed on chromosome 6 in SLC22A23.

This study highlights the critical influence of the compounds' chemical structure on NET and OCT affinities. Structural modifications that reduce OCT-mediated uptake while maintaining high NET affinity could improve the specificity and theranostic potential of NET-targeting ligands. These findings provide insights for designing next-generation radiotracers with enhanced selectivity and clinical utility.

Esomeprazole prevents oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy through inhibiting organic cation transporter 2 in mice. (PubMed, Eur J Pharm Sci)
Among the tested PPIs (lansoprazole, omeprazole, rabeprazole, and esomeprazole), the inhibitory effect of esomeprazole on hOCT2-mediated L-OHP transport was greater than those of other PPIs. Thus, to the best of our knowledge, our study demonstrates for the first time that concomitant esomeprazole prevents OIPN, at least in part, by inhibiting OCT2-mediated L-OHP transport into the DRG, thus decreasing L-OHP accumulation in the DRG. These findings provide important information for the establishment of novel protective approaches to minimize OIPN.

In conclusion, CD30-negative cHL diagnosed on limited biopsy material tends to affect younger male patients and retains typical morphological and immunophenotypic hallmarks of cHL. A thorough diagnostic approach incorporating multi-clone CD30 IHC and repeat sampling when necessary is crucial to avoid misdiagnosis in these diagnostically ambiguous cases.

Lansoprazole identified as a prophylactic agent for oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy using integrated in silico, in vitro, and in vivo analyses. (PubMed, Biomed Pharmacother)
These findings suggest that the concomitant administration of lansoprazole ameliorates OIPN by inhibiting OCT2-mediated L-OHP uptake in the mouse DRG. Our findings provide important insights for the establishment of novel protective approaches against OIPN.

Our results reveal an association between EPHX1 rs1051740 and AKD, and confirms the previously reported associations between ERCC2 SNPs and OS. These findings may help in predicting CIN in Thai cancer patients.

SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT: This study revealed that the deficiency of brain carnitine and acetylcarnitine in thioacetamide-induced chronic liver injury rats is mainly attributed to the downregulation of organic cation transporter 1/2 and organic cation/carnitine transporter 2 expressions at the blood-brain barrier. The increased circulating levels of chenodeoxycholic acid and 17β-estradiol play a significant role in the downregulation of organic cation transporter 1/2 and organic cation/carnitine transporter 2 expression in chronic liver injury.

While certain genetic variants show associations with specific toxicities, larger multinational/center studies are needed to strengthen the associations and improve clinical guidelines.

Stopping bosutinib reverses bosutinib-induced elevation of serum creatinine in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia. (PubMed, Int J Hematol)
This study revealed that bosutinib-induced elevation of serum creatinine, which was more pronounced in patients with the SLC22A2 808G/G genotype, does not indicate chronic kidney disease, but rather is simply a laboratory abnormality. If bosutinib-induced chronic kidney disease is suspected, renal function should be assessed by urinalysis and cystatin C levels to differentiate from simple elevation of serum creatinine.
