SEPT5 overexpression predicts poor prognosis and promotes progression through feedback regulation of HIF-1α in clear cell renal cell carcinoma. (PubMed, Cell Signal)
Additionally, we observe a positive correlation between SEPT5 overexpression and resistance to sorafenib and sunitinib in ccRCC cells. Ultimately, knockdown of SEPT5 significantly inhibits xenografted tumor growth in vivo. Overall, this study provides compelling evidence that directly targeting the HIF-1α-SEPT5 feedback axis may be an effective approach for suppressing the proliferation and progression of ccRCC, offering new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of ccRCC patients.

Neuronal antibodies in nonparaneoplastic autoimmune cerebellar ataxias. (PubMed, Curr Opin Neurol)
The number of antibodies against surface antigens is increasing in ACA, but the response to the immunotherapy remains suboptimal. More studies are needed to clarify the role of most of the antibodies against intracellular antigens described in these patients.

Septin-3 autoimmunity in patients with paraneoplastic cerebellar ataxia. (PubMed, J Neuroinflammation)
Septin-3 is a novel autoantibody target in patients with paraneoplastic cerebellar syndromes. Based on our findings, RC-IIFA with HEK293 cells expressing the septin-3/5/6/7/11 complex may serve as a screening tool to investigate anti-septin autoantibodies in serological samples with a characteristic staining pattern on neuronal tissue sections. Autoantibodies against individual septins can then be confirmed by RC-IIFA expressing single septins.

Downregulation of SEPTIN5 inhibits prostate cancer progression by increasing CD8 T cell infiltration. (PubMed, Int J Biol Sci)
In summary, downregulation of SEPT5 inhibited PCa progression, which may be mediated by increasing immune cell infiltration levels, especially CD8 T cells, by promoting the production of IFNG-inducible chemokines and cytokines expression associated with immune cell infiltration. Our findings suggest that SEPT5 may serve as a prognostic biomarker of PCa and may be a target molecule to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy for PCa in the future.
