Proteomic analysis of ovarian carcinoma reveals diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers with histotype- and stage-specificity. (PubMed, J Ovarian Res)
Our findings provide novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarker candidates and insights into mechanisms driving EOC progression with histotype- and stage-specificity. This may aid the development of improved clinical tools for detection, patient stratification, and targeted therapies in EOC.

A tumor Microenvironment-Derived Prognostic Model Guides IL-27 as a Therapeutic Strategy to Restore T Cell Immunity in Lung Adenocarcinoma. (PubMed, Adv Biol (Weinh))
Functionally, IL-27 blockade accelerated tumor growth, whereas recombinant IL-27 restrained tumor progression and enhanced PD-L1/CTLA-4 blockade efficacy by augmenting Th1 and cytotoxic T cell responses. These findings define a TME-based prognostic classifier and position IL-27 as a stage-dependent therapeutic target that restores T cell immunity and boosts checkpoint blockade efficacy.

Establishment of simple pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma identification method: S100P measurement in duodenal fluid obtained during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. (PubMed, Pancreatology)
This study demonstrated the utility of the S100P in DF analysis for the early diagnosis of PDAC and clarified potential issues related to sample collections in the actual clinical settings.

MTAP in small biopsy samples of pancreatic lesions: a potential diagnostic biomarker. Immunohistochemical, fluorescence in situ hybridization and molecular analysis. (PubMed, Pathologica)
An immunohistochemical immunohistochemical panel including MTAP and S100P improves diagnostic accuracy in PDAC diagnosis, showing a better sensitivity (75%) and the same specificity compared to single markers. FISH showed an incomplete sensitivity in identifying all cases with HD of CDKN2A, with two cases MTAP negative by IHC and identified as deleted only by molecular study.

Peripheral blood-based S100P hypomethylation as a biomarker for the early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. (PubMed, Epigenomics)
Additionally, decreased methylation of S100P_CpG_5 was markedly relevant with advanced tumor size and tumor stage (p = 0.003 and p = 0.007, respectively). Using quantitative mass spectrometry, we investigated an association between S100P hypomethylation in peripheral blood and NSCLC and suggested the great potential of DNA methylation signatures in whole blood for early detection of NSCLC.

Identification of high-risk signatures and therapeutic targets through molecular characterization and immune profiling of TP53-mutant breast cancer. (PubMed, J Genet Eng Biotechnol)
Our findings underscore the prognostic value of the identified genes and the immunosuppressive TME in TP53-mutant breast cancer. The identification of drug candidates with strong binding affinities to key proteins provides promising avenues for targeted therapy in this high-risk patient population.

Genetic insights into colorectal cancer pathogenesis: a multi-omics and immunity perspective. (PubMed, Transl Cancer Res)
These genes were also found to be associated with tumor mutational burden (TMB) and microsatellite instability (MSI) scores. Our findings reveal how these genes contribute to CRC pathogenesis by modulating the immune microenvironment, providing important biomarkers and targets for the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Label free paper sensor and light driven material for the rapid screening of S100P cancer biomarker in saliva. (PubMed, Talanta)
A rapid and inexpensive green synthesis process that uses deep UV LED light was used to functionalise the bimetallic substrate with S100P antibody molecules and develop an S100P-specific extractor chip. The new sensor has strong potential for the rapid determination of the S100P biomarker at points of care (POC), thus supporting the early diagnosis of cancer disease.

S100 Calcium-Binding Protein P and Cathepsin E as Key Mediators in Pancreatic Cancer Tumorigenesis. (PubMed, Biomedicines)
Elevated expression of S100P and CTSE in PC tissues serves as independent indicators in our model of patient survival. Both proteins regulate EMT and invasion, potentially via the PI3K-AKT pathway, and hold significant promise as prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in PC.
