A panel of plasma proteins associated with venous thromboembolism in patients with prostate cancer. (PubMed, Cancer Biomark)
Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis using top fifteen proteins achieved an area under the curve of 0.859, indicating strong predictive value for VTE in this cohort.ConclusionsWe identified a specific cluster of circulating proteins associated with development of VTE in patients with prostate cancer. This work deepens understanding of systemic mediators of cancer-associated VTE and, pending validation in other cohorts, paves the way for improved risk stratification and long-term monitoring in this population.

Plasma Proteomic High-Performance Biomarkers for Early Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer. (PubMed, J Proteome Res)
Furthermore, hub biomarkers (MMP7 and GDF15) were identified and subsequently validated along with an analysis of their clinical significance. Thus, our study identifies multiprotein signatures validated in two cohorts with high diagnostic performance for colorectal AN, contributing to the development of the clinical detection kit for noninvasive early diagnosis of CRC.

Matrine Alleviates Atherosclerosis by Targeting REG1A and Activating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR Pathway to Inhibit Endothelial Cell Ferroptosis. (PubMed, Biochem Genet)
In addition, both LY294002 (an inhibitor of the PI3K signaling) and Erastin (an inducer of ferroptosis) reversed the alleviation of matrine treatment on ferroptosis in ox-LDL treated HUVECs. The results in vivo showed that matrine treatment inhibited high-fat diet-induced aortic ferroptosis in ApoE-/- mice and alleviated arterial tissue lesions. In summary, matrine inhibits ferroptosis by targeting REG1A to activate PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, thereby alleviating aortic endothelial injury and lipid plaque formation in AS mice, suggesting that matrine has potential value for the treatment of AS.

Spatial analysis of hereditary diffuse gastric cancer reveals indolent phenotype of signet ring cell precursors. (PubMed, Mol Cancer Res)
Advanced DGC demonstrated E-cadherin re-expression, somatic TP53 and ERBB3 mutations, and upregulated CTNNA1, MYC, and MET expression when compared to SRC lesions. Implications: The marked differences in genomic and transcriptomic profile of SRC lesions and advanced DGC support the consideration of SRC lesions as precancers in patients with germline CDH1 mutations.

Bioinformatics analysis of colorectal cancer transcriptomic data reveals novel prognostic signature and potential biomarker genes. (PubMed, Scand J Gastroenterol)
Increased expression of REG1A, MMP3, FOXQ1 and CEMIP genes and decreased expression of AQP8, CA1, CLDN8, PYY, CA4, CEACAM7 and SLC30A10 genes were observed. This approach revealed a CRC-specific molecular profile and may provide some guidance for further investigation of potential biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis prediction of CRC patients.

Urinary biomarkers analysis as a diagnostic tool for early detection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma: Molecular quantification approach. (PubMed, Comput Biol Chem)
We have recognized three diagnostic biomarkers REG1A, TFF1, and LYVE1 that can detect patients with early-stage pancreatic cancer in non-invasive urine specimens with improved sensitivity and specificity. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no prior investigations examining the mRNA expression levels of them in urine within the Egyptian population.
