Neuropilin Antagonists (NRPas) Block the Phosphorylation of the Cancer Therapeutic Key Factor p38α Kinase Triggering Cell Death. (PubMed, Molecules)
In conclusion, we showed for the first time how NRPas may alter tumour cell signalling and contribute to the down-modulation of the cancer therapeutic key factor p38α-kinase phosphorylation. Thus, the efficient association of NRPas and p38α-kinase inhibitor strengthened this hypothesis.

PRMT5-regulated splicing of DNA repair genes drives chemoresistance in breast cancer stem cells. (PubMed, Oncogene)
Surprisingly, these skipped exons and retained intron events rarely lead to substantial gene expression repression, suggesting that PRMT5 inhibition predominantly results in nuclear detention of intron-containing transcripts and the production of non-canonical isoforms with compromised protein function. Since many genes within the same DDR pathway undergo deregulated splicing, this study thus reveals additional points of vulnerability and alternative combination drug strategies that could improve the therapeutic efficacy of PRMT5 inhibitors to promote BCSC eradication.

Identification of RAD17 as a candidate cancer predisposition gene in families with histories of pancreatic and breast cancers. (PubMed, BMC Cancer)
Within families with breast and pancreatic cancer, we identified RAD17 as a novel candidate predisposition gene. Further genetic studies are warranted to better understand the potential pathogenic effect of RAD17 variants and in other DDR genes.

Exploring the Role of Non-synonymous and Deleterious Variants Identified in Colorectal Cancer: A Multi-dimensional Computational Scrutiny of Exomes. (PubMed, Curr Genomics)
An in-depth multi-dimensional downstream analysis of all these genes in terms of gene expression profiling and analysis and differential gene expression with regard to various cancer types revealed CTSB and CPNE1 as highly expressed and overregulated genes in colorectal cancer. Our work provides insights into the various alterations that might possibly lead to colorectal cancer and suggests the possibility of utilizing the most important genes identified for wet-lab experimentation.

Genetic analysis of familial predisposition in the pathogenesis of malignant pleural mesothelioma. (PubMed, J Cancer Res Clin Oncol)
Our finding, PIK3R4 gene, is directly associated with mesothelioma development. Twelve genes, which are associated with cancer, were detected in literature. Additional studies, which scan first-degree relatives of individual, are needed to find the specific gene region.

Genome-wide CRISPR screen identifies NANP as a radio-sensitizing target of GBM by regulating NF-κB pathway (AACR 2023)
The standard of care for newly diagnosed GBM patients includes surgery followed by combined radiation therapy (RT) and adjuvant temozolomide (TMZ) therapy...TCGA and CGGA dataset shows NANP is highly expressed in GBM patients and patients with NANP high expression have poorer survival. In conclusion, our study identified NANP as a novel radio-sensitizing target for glioblastoma by regulating NF-κB pathway and mesenchymal status of GSCs.
