Also, the expression levels of PRRX1, PRRX2 between patients with LVI+ and those with LVI-, with p-values of p<0.0001, p<0.0001 for each. These findings suggest that PRRX1and PRRX2 levels could be used as possible diagnostic indicators for colorectal cancer.

Regulation of PHOX2B gene expression by the long non-coding natural antisense RNA PHOX2B-AS1. (PubMed, FEBS J)
Our findings reveal that PHOX2B positively regulates PHOX2B-AS1 expression and that inhibiting the antisense transcript reduces PHOX2B protein levels. Together, these results provide strong evidence for the existence of a gene antisense to PHOX2B and highlight a strict correlation and reciprocal regulation between PHOX2B and PHOX2B-AS1.

Peroxiredoxin 2 as a potential prognostic biomarker associated with angiogenesis in cervical squamous cell cancer. (PubMed, Oncol Lett)
Cox proportional hazard regression analysis revealed that expression of Prx2 &lsqb;hazard ratio (HR), 2.551; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.056-6.162; P=0.037], MVD (HR, 2.436; CI, 1.034-5.735; P=0.042) and FIGO stage (HR, 1.543; CI, 1.027-2.319; P=0.037) were independent factors for PFS time. In conclusion, the results of the present study suggested that Prx2 could act as a potential biomarker for predicting CSCC progression and prognosis and could be a novel target for antiangiogenic therapy of CSCC.

Piperlongumine inhibits antioxidant enzymes, increases ROS levels, induces DNA damage and G2/M cell cycle arrest in breast cell lines. (PubMed, J Toxicol Environ Health A)
Although cell viability was reduced in both cell lines, only HB4a cells underwent apoptotic cell death, whereas other types of cellular death may be involved in MCF-7 cells. Taken together, these data provide insight into the anticancer mechanisms attributed to PLN effects, which acts as an inhibitor of DNA damage response (DDR) proteins and antioxidant enzymes.
