Pro-apoptotic and anti-proliferative activities of cassane diterpenoids on squamous carcinoma cells: An in vitro and in silico study. (PubMed, Toxicol Rep)
Molecular docking analysis revealed strong binding affinities of compounds 1 and 4 to the Caspase 3 receptor, with values of -8.5 and -8.8 kcal/mol, respectively. These results suggest that Pulcherrimin E and 6-cinnamoyl-7-hydroxylvouacapen-5-ol have potential antitumor effects based on their selective cytotoxic effect on squamous carcinoma cells in vitro.

RBM15 downregulation attenuated in vivo CRC cell proliferation by inhibiting the FGD5-AS1/HOXC10 axis. In conclusion, RBM15 promotes the FGD5-AS1/HOXC10 axis via m6A modification to promote CRC cell proliferation.

Bacillus coagulans MF-06 alleviates intestinal mucosal barrier from damage in chicks infected with Salmonella pullorum via activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. (PubMed, Front Microbiol)
Analysis through 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that the intake of Bacillus coagulans MF-06 led to a significant decrease in the relative abundance of Lachnoclostridium, Shuttleworthia, and unidentified-Eggerthellaceae (p < 0.05). Collectively, the Bacillus coagulans MF-06 may provide a protective effect against Salmonella pullorum infection in chicks by enhancing growth performance, strengthening the integrity of the intestinal mucosal barrier, and stabilizing the gut microbiota.

This study validated the role of YAP as an oncogene in CRC, as it promoted chemoresistance through the mTOR/GLUT3 axis. These results suggested YAP as a potential target for promoting the efficacy of chemotherapy in patients with CRC.

Ferroptosis inducer Erastin inhibits proliferation of liver cancer cells in vitro by downregulating ACSL4 (PubMed, Nan Fang Yi Ke Da Xue Xue Bao)
ACSL4 level is significantly overexpressed in liver cancer. Erastin increases MDA contents and down-regulates ACSL4 expression, thereby promoting ferroptosis and inhibiting proliferation of liver cancer cells, and these effects can be reversed by Fer-1.

Synergistic inhibition of proliferation and induction of apoptosis in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma by mebendazole and paclitaxel via PI3K/AKT pathway mitigation. (PubMed, Naunyn Schmiedebergs Arch Pharmacol)
Both MBZ and paclitaxel treatments inhibited of cell proliferation and microtubule formation by reducing the PI3K/AKT pathway in CAL-27 and UM-SCC-1 cells, with the combination demonstrating synergistic effects. Our study suggests MBZ and paclitaxel as potential agents for the treatment of OTSCC.

GH inhibits ALV-J replication and restricts cell cycle by activating PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. (PubMed, Poult Sci)
More importantly, we found that GH restricted cell proliferation and apoptosis, and inhibited the replication of ALV-J by activating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in DF-1 cells. In conclusion, these results indicate GH plays a role in the antiviral response against the replication of ALV-J, providing evidence of an interaction between GH and the innate immunity in chickens.

Pyrotinib induces cell death in HER2-positive breast cancer via triggering HSP90-dependent HER2 degradation and ROS/HSF-1-dependent oxidative DNA damage. (PubMed, Cell Stress Chaperones)
Furthermore, the in vivo results demonstrated a pronounced anticancer effect of pyrotinib in the SKBR3 xenograft mouse model, concomitant with a reduction in HER2 expression. In summary, our findings provide novel insights into the mechanism of pyrotinib in the treatment of HER2+ BC.

Methods Ovarian cancer cells SKOV3 and SKOV3/cisplatin (DDP) were used as research objects...SKOV3/DDP cells were divided into control group (normal culture), DDP group (20 μg/mL DDP), L-PMI group, M-PMI group, H-PMI group (20 μg/mL DDP+50, 100, 200 μmol/L PMI), and carbenoxolone (CBX) group (20 μg/mL DDP+200 μmol/L PMI+50 ng/mL CBX)...The number of clonal cells, invasive cells, and migrating cells, the protein expressions of PCNA, MRP5 and FOXM1 in CBX group were higher than those in H-PMI group, and the apoptotic rate, the protein expressions of Caspase-3 and FOXO3 in CBX group were lower than those in H-PMI group. Conclusion PMI may activate FOXO3 and inhibit FOXM1, thereby suppressing the proliferation, invasion, migration, and chemotherapy resistance of ovarian cancer cells.

N6-methyladenosine-modified circRPS6KC1 regulated cellular senescence in prostate cancer via FOXM1/PCNA axis. (PubMed, Cell Signal)
FOXM1 mediated the transcription of PCNA and influenced the p21 degradation, which resulted in up-regulation of p21 protein in a p53-independent manner. In conclusion, our findings showed that N6-methyladenosine modification by METTL3 and YTHDF1 stabilized circRPS6KC1, and circRPS6KC1 played an essential role on cellular senescence via FOXM1/PCNA axis in prostate cancer.
