Multifunctional Biomaterial Strategies to Regulate Inflammation and Promote Kidney Repair. (PubMed, Biomater Res)
We developed a biofunctional hybrid scaffold (PMEAR/MM/uEV) combining a porous poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-porcine extracellular matrix, ricinoleic acid-modified magnesium hydroxide, metanephric mesenchyme-like cells, and ureteric bud-derived extracellular vesicles, with resveratrol and adapalene to confer antioxidant and pro-regenerative properties...mRNA sequencing revealed activation of angiogenesis, extracellular matrix remodeling, oxidative defense, and immune modulation, with Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment in tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-17 signaling and nuclear factor kappa B-associated pathways. These findings establish PMEAR/MM/uEV as an effective, multimodal platform for kidney regeneration.

Clinicopathological analysis of mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma in the corpusuteri: A report of 3 cases (PubMed, Beijing Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban)
According to the 2023 updated International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging guidelines for endometrial cancer, all the three cases were in advanced stage. It is suggested that pathologists should make accurate diagnosis based on morphological manifestations, using a set of matched immunohistochemical markers and necessary molecular tests to avoid misdiagnosis and better guide clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Betulin, an active component from Chinese herb birch bark, suppresses tumor angiogenesis and tumor growth by inhibiting the PAX2/VEGF-A/VEGR2 signaling pathway in non-small cell lung cancer. (PubMed, Phytomedicine)
These results suggest that betulin is a novel angiogenesis inhibitor with potential clinical application for NSCLC therapy. Our study also suggested that PAX2 is a potential therapeutic target for tumor angiogenesis.

SFPQ-TFE3 reciprocally regulates mTORC1 and induces lineage plasticity in a mouse model of renal tumorigenesis. (PubMed, Nat Commun)
mTOR inhibition downregulates SFPQ-TFE3 expression and rescues PAX8 expression and transcriptional activity in vitro. These data provide evidence of an epithelial cell-of-origin for TFE3-driven PEComas, highlighting a reciprocal role for SFPQ-TFE3 and mTOR in driving lineage plasticity in the kidney.

A distinct mechanism of epigenetic reprogramming silences PAX2 and initiates endometrial carcinogenesis. (PubMed, J Clin Invest)
Functionally, PAX2 loss promoted endometrial carcinogenesis by rewiring the transcriptional landscape via global enhancer reprogramming. The discovery that most endometrial cancers originate from a recurring epigenetic alteration carries profound implications for their diagnosis and treatment.

Mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the seminal vesicles: report of a rare case with diagnostic, therapeutic, and prognostic insights. (PubMed, Diagn Pathol)
Seminal vesicle MESTs are rare and histologically diverse tumors, with pathogenesis likely hormonally influenced given ER and PR expression. Diagnosis requires a multidisciplinary approach, including imaging, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry. Surgical excision is the preferred treatment, offering an excellent prognosis for low-grade cases. This case emphasizes the importance of detailed documentation to improve understanding and management of these rare tumors, and its prognosis.

Clinical pathological and molecular features of 100 patients with gastric-type cervical adenocarcinoma. (PubMed, Diagn Pathol)
GAS is a highly malignant, HPV-independent cervical adenocarcinoma characterized by atypical clinical symptoms and complex histology. This study, representing a large cohort from Northern China, provides comprehensive insights into its clinicopathological and molecular landscape. We characterized its unique molecular profile and, importantly, identified PD-L1 (CPS ≥ 1) as a potential prognostic marker associated with shorter PFS. These findings contribute to improving diagnosis, understanding biological behavior, and identifying potential therapeutic targets for this aggressive subtype.

Integrating bulk RNA-seq and scRNA-seq analyses with machine learning to predict platinum response and prognosis in ovarian cancer. (PubMed, Sci Rep)
We named this model GPPS (Genes to Predict Platinum response Signature). Furthermore, we discovered that the GPPS model can also predict patient prognosis.

Case Report: Retroperitoneal dedifferentiated solitary fibrous tumor with unexpected Pax-2 expression, mimicking high grade clear cell renal cell carcinoma. (PubMed, Front Oncol)
The case demonstrated that DSFTs are prone to be misdiagnosed, particularly in atypical locations with abnormal morphology and immunophenotypes. In such circumstances, a comprehensive evaluation of clinical, pathological, and imaging studies is essential, and molecular examinations can provide valuable diagnostic support.

Expression Characteristics of 3-Marker Panel (PAX2, PTEN, and β-Catenin) in Benign Interval and Secretory Endometrium and Secretory Endometrial Precancer. (PubMed, Cancers (Basel))
Overall, the results demonstrate the diagnostic utility of the 3-marker panel in clinical practice in identifying AH/EIN within challenging secretory phase endometrium cases. Combined with previous research highlighting its effectiveness in other challenging contexts-such as AH/EIN in polyps, small-sized EIN (subdiagnostic EIN), and progestin-treated EIN-this study provides strong evidence supporting the panel's broad applicability in resolving major diagnostic challenges related to the precise diagnosis of AH/EIN.

Immunocytochemical examination of Akt, mTOR, and Pax-2 for endometrial carcinoma through thin-layer endometrial cytology. (PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
This investigation probed varying threshold levels pertaining to Akt, mTOR, and Pax-2, consequently assisting in endometrial lesion-type identification. IHC within ECT (endometrial cytology test) analyses for Akt, mTOR, and Pax-2 could enhance the capacity for diagnosing EC/pre-malignant lesions.

Immunohistochemical characterization of differentiation-associated transcription factors, tumor suppressor genes, and mismatch repair genes in rabbit uterine adenocarcinoma. (PubMed, Vet Pathol)
Heat map analysis classified samples into 4 clusters, which revealed that 1 PAX2-positive group had a higher presence of papillary-type uterine adenocarcinomas and a lower prevalence of tubular/solid types compared with the 2 PAX2-negative groups. This study demonstrated that the immunohistochemical phenotype of rabbit uterine adenocarcinoma is comparable to that of human endometrial carcinomas, suggesting the potential for similar oncogenic mechanisms that might prove useful for translational medicine research.
