Higher Nodal expression is often associated with poorer survival in patients diagnosed with melanoma and treated with anti-PD1 therapy. (PubMed, Pathol Oncol Res)
This pilot study is the first proof-of-principle attempt to predict treatment response survival outcome in a small cohort of melanoma patients receiving anti-PD1 immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy - based on their Nodal expression profile. Using advanced multiplex immunohistochemistry-based digital pathology, the major finding of this preliminary study indicates that higher Nodal expression is often associated with poorer overall survival after anti-PD1 therapy, reaching nearly statistical relevance.

VX-509 prevents the EMT process in CCSCs by inhibiting the transcription and protein expression of Nodal, and inhibits the dedifferentiated self-renewal of CCSCs.

Unregulated microRNAs in gastric cancer: a case series analysis (ESSO 2023)
Cox analyses indicated that pStages independently correlated with OS (HR 4.9, 95%CI 2.041-12.104), increased age correlated with worse DFS (HR 6.0, 95%CI 2.596-13.947), and lymph-node ratio correlated with DSS (HR 14.4, 95%CI 4.213-49.373). Conclusions Although miR21, miR135b, miR196a, and miR196b were found to be upregulated in GC, further investigation is needed to fully understand their clinical utility.

Stearoyl-coenzyme A desaturase 1 (SCD1) inhibition at least partially abolished the resistance of Nodal-overexpressing cells to RSL3-induced ferroptosis...Furthermore, bovine serum albumin nanoparticles/si-Nodal nanocomplexes targeting Nodal had anti-tumour effects on CRC progression and metastasis. This research elucidated the role of Nodal in CRC development and revealed a potential gene-based therapeutic strategy targeting Nodal for improving CRC treatment.
