These findings suggest that the relationship between biochemical markers and cognitive function is complex. However, BDNF and NSP may serve as potential biomarkers for delayed memory impairment in men post-prostatectomy.

Blast Overpressure-Induced Neuroinflammation and Axonal Injury in the Spinal Cord of Ferrets. (PubMed, Brain Sci)
Our results indicate that blast exposure causes acute and sub-acute neuroinflammation and associated axonal injury in the cervical spinal cord. These data further suggest that inhibition of TLRs and/or COX-2 enzyme might offer protection against blast-induced injuries to the spinal cord.

Commercial cytokine assay on equine cerebrospinal fluid does not distinguish equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy from cervical vertebral stenotic myelopathy. (PubMed, Am J Vet Res)
This commercial cytokine assay was unable to distinguish between CVSM and eNAD/EDM based on CSF cytokine profiles in this population. Optimization of a more sensitive assay is warranted as CSF cytokine concentrations have high potential to be used as biomarkers to characterize neuroinflammation in equine neurological diseases.

Neuroprotective Potential of Acmella oleracea Aerial Parts and Root Extracts: The Role of Phenols and Alkylamides Against Neuropathic Pain. (PubMed, Nutrients)
Different concentrations (15-150 µg/mL) of AP and R were tested in SH-SY5Y cells differentiated into neurons exposed to oxaliplatin (10 µM), assessing cell viability (MTT), cytotoxicity (LDH), SOD activity, and expression of ATF-3, Ire1α, and Nf-H genes... Extracts from both aerial parts and roots of A. oleracea show promise in alleviating chemotherapy-induced neuropathy through mechanisms not solely related to spilanthol. Further studies to elucidate the contribution of phenolic components are desirable.

Development of a prognostic risk model for clear cell renal cell carcinoma by systematic evaluation of DNA methylation markers: an update after ISUP/WHO 2022 classification. (PubMed, J Pathol Clin Res)
Despite the individual prognostic significance of necrosis, LVI, the presence of sarcomatoid and/or rhabdoid differentiation, ISUP, and TNM 8th edition, these factors did not influence the performance of our prognostic model. The model including the five DNA methylation markers, age at diagnosis, sex, TNM stage (8th edition), ISUP grading, and tumor size was the best performing model, thereby highlighting the potential importance of molecular markers.

In conclusion, our study comprehensively delineates genomic distinctions and evolutionary trajectories among renal AML subtypes, establishing TSC2, POLDIP2, NEFH, and MUC2 as prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic predictors, facilitating precision medicine in eAML management.
