In vitro and in silico analysis of the anti-proliferative effects of Spirulina platensis on A549 lung cancer cells. (PubMed, Sci Rep)
In addition to the kinetic and MAP pathways, docking analysis confirmed that S. platensis binds with the highest affinity to the predicted active sites of the tumor receptor IL-F3, thereby validating its antitumor activity. In conclusion, great suppression in the virulence of lung cancer was reported following treatment with S. platensis, illustrating its suspected mechanism of action, safety profile, kinetic properties, molecular docking results, toxicity, and internal pathways.

YTHDF2 drives oral squamous cell carcinoma progression via m6A-dependent degradation of MTUS1/ATIP1 mRNA and mitochondrial dysregulation. (PubMed, Cell Signal)
These findings establish YTHDF2 as a driver of OSCC progression through m6A-dependent suppression of MTUS1/ATIP1, linking mitochondrial dysregulation to tumorigenesis. Our study proposes therapeutic targeting of the YTHDF2-MTUS1/ATIP1 axis to improve OSCC management.

Mitochondrial Tumor Suppressor 1A Attenuates Myocardial Infarction Injury by Maintaining the Coupling Between Mitochondria and Endoplasmic Reticulum. (PubMed, Circulation)
Our study demonstrates that Mtus1A is crucial for modulating MI-induced cardiac remodeling by preserving ER-mitochondria communication and ameliorating mitochondrial function in cardiomyocytes. Mtus1A may serve as a potential therapeutic target for treating heart failure after MI.

Integrative eQTL and Mendelian randomization analysis reveals key genetic markers in mesothelioma. (PubMed, Respir Res)
This integrative eQTL and Mendelian randomization analysis provides evidence of a positive causal association between 14 key co-expressed genes and mesothelioma genetically. These disease critical genes are implicated in correlations with biological processes and infiltrated immune cells related to mesothelioma. Moreover, our study lays a theoretical foundation for further research into the mechanisms of mesothelioma and potential clinical applications.

FTO-mediated demethylation of MTUS1/ATIP1 promotes tumor progression in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. (PubMed, BMC Cancer)
Our research elucidated the functional importance of FTO-mediated m6A demethylation of MTUS1/ATIP1, suggesting that targeting the FTO-MTUS1/ATIP1 axis could be a prospective novel approach for treating HNSCC.

Mitochondrial outer membrane protein MTUS1/ATIP1 exerts antitumor effects through ROS-induced mitochondrial pyroptosis in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. (PubMed, Int J Biol Sci)
MTUS1/ATIP1 activated ROS, recruiting Bax to mitochondria, facilitating cytochrome c release to the cytosol to activate caspase-3, and inducing GSDME-dependent pyroptotic death in HNSCC cells. Our findings showed that MTUS1/ATIP1 localized in the outer mitochondrial membrane in HNSCC cells and mediated anticancer effects through ROS-induced pyroptosis, which may provide a novel therapeutic strategy for HNSCC treatment.

Microtubule-associated tumor suppressor 1 inhibits hemin-induced apoptosis of vascular endothelial cells via hemeoxygenase 1 (PubMed, Sheng Li Xue Bao)
And the MTUS1 knockdown mediated decreased 293T cells viability induced by hemin could be partly rescued by NRF2 overexpression (P < 0.01). These results suggest that MTUS1 can inhibit hemin-induced apoptosis of HUVEC, and the mechanism maybe related to MTUS1/NRF2/HMOX1 pathway.

Long non-coding RNA PRR7-AS1 promotes osteosarcoma progression via binding RNF2 to transcriptionally suppress MTUS1. (PubMed, Front Oncol)
Rescue experiments confirmed MTUS1 as a downstream direct target of PRR7-AS1 and RNF2. We identified lncRNA PRR7-AS1 as an important oncogene in osteosarcoma progression, indicating that it may be a potential target for diagnosis and prognosis of osteosarcoma.

A Network of 17 Microtubule-Related Genes Highlights Functional Deregulations in Breast Cancer. (PubMed, Cancers (Basel))
A Systems Biology approach highlighted three major functional networks connecting the 17 MT-Rel genes and their partners, which are centered on spindle assembly, chromosome segregation and cytokinesis. Our studies identified mitotic Aurora kinases and their substrates as major targets for therapeutic approaches against breast cancer.
