This study identifies distinct miRNA signatures associated with GBC initiation and progression, offering insights into the molecular pathogenesis of the disease. Furthermore, functional studies of the miRNAs implicated in EMT and EGFR-TKI resistance may be conducted using GBC cell lines to dissect the precise roles of key miRNAs and explore their potential as novel therapeutic targets in GBC.

Regulation of ferroptosis in colorectal cancer through therapeutic modulation and miRNA targeting. (PubMed, Biochem Biophys Rep)
Interestingly, we also found that medications such as prasterone, tazemetostat, isoxyl, gemcitabine, ponsegromab, scx-2023, and nicotinamide could potentially be used in combination with the identified miRNAs to target ferroptosis in CRC. To further validate the stability and reliability of the predicted protein-ligand interactions, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and MM-PBSA analyses were performed on selected top-ranking complexes, which confirmed their stable and favorable binding and supported the robustness of our docking results. These findings suggest that targeting these miRNAs and their associated genes, along with using the identified drugs, could be a promising strategy for CRC treatment, leveraging the potential of ferroptosis-inducing therapies.

Circulating miRNA profiling showed upregulation of inflammation-associated miRNAs (miR-21-5p, miR-150-5p, miR-142-3p, miR-363-3p), linked through bioinformatic analysis to immune dysregulation, intestinal cancer, and neurotoxicity. Overall, these results indicate that low-dose exposure to pollutant mixtures can induce subtle but biologically relevant immune and epithelial changes, emphasizing the importance of mixture-based approaches in environmental risk assessment.

The area under the miRNAs curve for differential expression of lymphocytes in Kazakh hypertensive patients, where miR-423-5p, area under the curve (AUC): 0.696 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.533-0.859); MiR-320a-3p, AUC: 0.764 (95% CI: 0.609-0.919). The expression of miR-92a-3p, miR-423-5p, and miR-320a-3p in T lymphocytes of Kazakh hypertensive patients is downregulated, with good diagnostic reference value (P < .05).
