HOTAIR promotes the progression of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia by regulating the miR-326/IGF-1R axis and activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. (PubMed, Hematology)
Furthermore, silencing of HOTAIR decreased PI3K/AKT phosphorylation, indicating pathway dependence. HOTAIR promotes the progression of B-ALL via the miR-326/IGF-1R axis and PI3K/AKT activation, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target.

Circulating microRNAs as Biomarkers of Brain Metastases in Lung Cancer: A Pilot Study. (PubMed, J Clin Med)
Notable differences in miRNA expression profiles were revealed for the patients with brain metastases from lung cancer, suggesting the role of the selected miRNAs in cancer metastasis to the CNS. However, while our analysis provides exploratory insights, the findings should be interpreted with caution and require validation in larger, independent cohorts before any clinical or translational implications can be established.

MicroRNA Deregulation and Immune Checkpoint Interactions in Common Variable Immunodeficiency and CLL-Associated Secondary Immunodeficiency. (PubMed, Cells)
Correlations between miRNA levels and the expression of immune checkpoints (PD-1, CTLA-4, CD200) indicated the involvement of a complex regulatory network encompassing both humoral and cellular immune mechanisms. The results provide preliminary evidence that selected miRNAs could reflect disease-specific immune dysregulation patterns and may hold potential as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in both PIDs and SIDs.

This study underscores the potential of specific EV characteristics and microRNA content as early biomarkers for treatment response in patients with MS. The downregulation of specific microRNAs emerges as a promising indicator of favorable clinical outcomes, thereby suggesting their utility in early therapeutic decision making. Notably, our findings regarding miR-186-5p as a biomarker for brain atrophy represent a novel contribution to the field. Overall, early EV levels and microRNA content analysis at 3 months after treatment initiation seem to be promising as regards anticipating irreversible neurologic damage, thereby offering a valuable tool for optimizing MS treatment management.

Lung cancer cell derived sEVs enhance the metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer via SNHG12/miR-326/SLC7A11 axis. (PubMed, Cancer Biol Ther)
Collectively, results of the present study revealed that SNHG12 suppressed ferroptosis and promoted the metastasis of NSCLC, further demonstrating that high SNHG12 expression levels may be indicative of poor clinical outcomes for patients with NSCLC. Thus, the present study highlighted that the SNHG12/miR-326/SLC7A11 axis may exhibit potential as a novel target for the treatment of NSCLC.

Our study reveals that the RMRM risk model could effectively predict the prognosis of HCC, and SPP1+ macrophages regulated by miR-4739-RNA methylation promote the proliferation and migration of HCC cells. These results highlight the potential of RMRMs in predicting the prognosis of HCC.
