MiR-210-5p inhibits the proliferation and migration of colorectal cancer cells by down-regulating aquaporin 1. (PubMed, J Physiol Pharmacol)
In summary, AQP1 is upregulated in CRC and regulated by miR-210-5p. Downregulation of AQP1 by miR-210-5p attenuates CRC proliferation and migration through decreasing VEGR, Wnt-7a, MMP2, MMP9, and β-catenin expression.

Exploratory Analysis of MicroRNA (miRNA) as a Prognostic and Predictive Biomarker in Locally Advanced and Metastatic Gastric Cancer. (PubMed, Cureus)
Notably, patients in the low miR-27a expression group had significantly better overall survival compared to the high expression group (12.03 (5.69-18.37) months vs 4.90 (3.47-6.33) months; P = 0.02). Conclusion The differentially regulated miRNAs, namely, miR-29c, miR-27a, and miR-25, may be used as predictive and prognostic biomarkers in advanced gastric cancer which require further validation.

Molecular Insights into the Regulatory Mechanisms Mediated by Hypoxia-Conditioned Skeletal Muscle Exosomal miRNAs. (PubMed, Biomark Insights)
Hypoxia induces distinct exosomal miRNA signatures in skeletal muscle, regulating genes involved in differentiation, migration, and stress response. These findings suggest that exosome-mediated miRNA signaling contributes to hypoxia-driven muscle adaptation and intercellular communication.

In-situ growth of heterogeneous Au on MoS2 nanosheets for SERS detection of breast cancer-derived miR-210-3p and miR-9-3p. (PubMed, Sci Rep)
The detection limit is 0.1 nM, which validates relevant quantification capabilities. This work highlights the synergistic and interfacial integration of MoS₂ with heterogeneously grown Au, creating stronger SERS active hotspots with improved sensitivity and mode-selective chemical enhancement effects and also establishes its potential as a platform for translation and clinically focused studies for miRNA diagnostics from complex disease sources.

Independent validation of circulating microRNAs as biomarkers in a case-control study of adolescents with type 1 diabetes for more than 8 years. (PubMed, PLoS One)
Among these were miR-223-3p and miR-135a-5p, which are associated with cardiovascular/inflammatory disease and cancer, respectively. These findings suggest potential clinical utility of circulating miRNAs for T1D diagnosis and disease monitoring, although extended validation of the identified miRNA biomarkers in larger, independent cohorts is required to establish the necessary scientific evidence for clinical translation.

Circulating microRNAs as Biomarkers of Brain Metastases in Lung Cancer: A Pilot Study. (PubMed, J Clin Med)
Notable differences in miRNA expression profiles were revealed for the patients with brain metastases from lung cancer, suggesting the role of the selected miRNAs in cancer metastasis to the CNS. However, while our analysis provides exploratory insights, the findings should be interpreted with caution and require validation in larger, independent cohorts before any clinical or translational implications can be established.

MicroRNAs as potential prognostic biomarkers in acute lymphoblastic leukemia: a systematic review, meta-analysis, and bioinformatics study. (PubMed, Syst Rev)
These findings support miRNAs as valuable prognostic biomarkers for ALL with potential for personalized therapy. The context-dependent role of these miRNAs highlights the need for confirmation through large, multicenter trials. The constructed ceRNA network provides useful insights into their regulatory mechanisms, opening new directions for therapeutic strategies.

Reversing the Hypoxic Adaptive Response in Breast Cancer Cells through Small-Molecule Inhibition of Oncogenic MicroRNA-210. (PubMed, J Med Chem)
These findings demonstrate the potential of the tris-thiazole scaffold as a chemical probe and an RNA binder while highlighting the therapeutic relevance of miR-210 inhibition in hypoxia-driven cancers. Indeed, the inhibition of miR-210 biogenesis by small molecules reverses the hypoxia-induced adaptive phenotype in cancer cells.
