Urine micro-RNA signature as a potential non-invasive diagnostic biomarker in bladder cancer. (PubMed, Asian Pac J Cancer Prev)
A quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction method based on a TaqMan probe was used to evaluate the expression levels of miR‑200, miR‑145 and miR-21, the correlations between these miRNA expression levels in urine and tissues and certain clinicopathological parameters were investigated. The expression of the 3 studied miRNAs was significantly higher in urine of low and high tumor grade BC patients compared to the controls and the expression were increased in BC tissues compared with those in normal bladder tissues, the results proved that the 3 miRNAs function as oncogenes. A marked positive correlation was observed between the mRNA expression of miR-200 and miR 21, with a coefficient of 0.511 and P value of 0.02. The results of the present study indicated that miR-200, miR-145 and miR-21 may function as oncogenes and have a potential to serve as an early noninvasive diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for treatment of BC.

Our results provided a potential molecular mechanism by which miR-200a involved in hypoxia-induced metastasis and invasion in ovarian cancer, suggesting a possible target for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

LncRNA TP73-AS1 enhances the malignant properties of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma by increasing MMP14 expression through miRNA -200a sponging. (PubMed, J Cell Mol Med)
Mechanistically, we found that TP73-AS1 suppressed the expression of the known oncogenic miR-200a. Taken together, these data highlight the prognostic potential of TP73-AS1 for PC patients and highlight it as a potential anti-PDAC therapeutic target.

Tissue MicroRNA Expression as a Predictor of Response to Immunotherapy in NSCLC Patients. (PubMed, Front Oncol)
The study included 60 patients with NSCLC who underwent first or second line immunotherapy with pembrolizumab or nivolumab. In multivariate analysis, we found that patients with PD-L1 expression on ≥1% of tumor cells compared to patients without PD-L1 expression on cancer cells had a significantly lower risk of progression (HR=0.3857, 95%CI: 0.1612-0.9226, p=0.0323) and death (HR=0.377, 95%CI: 0.1636-0.8688, p=0.022). The miR-200b and miR-429 molecules in tumor cells seem to have greatest impact on the effectiveness of immunotherapy in NSCLC patients.

MiR-200a with CDC7 as a direct target declines cell viability and promotes cell apoptosis in Wilm's tumor via Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. (PubMed, Mol Cell Biochem)
Furthermore, blocking the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway caused an increase on cell apoptosis, while overexpression of CDC7 can reverse these impacts. Collectively, miR-200a/CDC7 axis involved in regulating the malignant phenotype of Wilm's tumor through Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which provides a theoretical basis for targeted molecular therapy of Wilm's tumor.
