DNA methylation-mediated silencing of MEOX1 promotes glycolysis and immune evasion in colorectal cancer cells through inhibition of GLP2R transcription. (PubMed, Cell Biosci)
DNA hypermethylation blocked MEOX1-mediated GLP2R transcription, which activated glycolysis in CRC cells by inhibiting Hippo signaling, leading to CRC growth, metastasis, and immune evasion.

Role of Meox1 in promoting lung tumor vascularization and impairing CD8+ T cell mediated immunity. (PubMed, Front Oncol)
Furthermore, we observed a marked reduction in tumor cell proliferation and an increase in CD8 expression, a marker of T-cell activity in an animal model system, indicating that Meox1 may also play a regulatory role in immune-mediated tumor suppression. Our findings not only deepen our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying lung cancer progression but also open new avenues for the development of targeted therapies aimed at restoring tumor-associated endothelial cell function and enhancing immune responses against cancer.

Impact of gut microbiome on radiotherapy and immunotherapy efficacy in microsatellite-stable colorectal cancer: role of propionic acid and B. fragilis. (PubMed, Br J Cancer)
This study highlights the pivotal role of the gut microbiome, specifically propionic acid and B. fragilis, in modulating the efficacy of combined radiotherapy and immunotherapy in MSS-CRC.

Chromatin remodelling drives immune cell-fibroblast communication in heart failure. (PubMed, Nature)
Systemic IL-1β inhibition or targeted Il1b deletion in Cx3cr1+ cells prevented stress-induced Meox1 expression and fibroblast activation. The elucidation of BRD4-dependent cross-talk between a specific immune cell subset and fibroblasts through IL-1β reveals how inflammation drives profibrotic cell states and supports strategies that modulate this process in heart disease and other chronic inflammatory disorders featuring tissue remodelling.

Establishment of glioma prognosis nomogram based on the function of meox1 in promoting the progression of cancer. (PubMed, Heliyon)
The integration of this scoring system with other clinical indicators yielded a nomogram capable of effectively predicting the survival period of individuals with gliomas. Our study established a stratified investigation system based on the levels of meox1 and its related genes, providing a novel, cost-effective model for facilitating the prognosis prediction of individuals with glioma.

Unraveling the molecular mechanisms of lymph node metastasis in ovarian cancer: focus on MEOX1. (PubMed, J Ovarian Res)
The results of our study indicate that MEOX1 plays a role in the lymph node metastasis of ovarian cancer by regulating multiple biological activities, including the proliferation and EMT of ovarian cancer, lymphangiogenesis, and ECM remodeling. Our findings suggest that MEOX1 could serve as a potential biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer with LNM.

Mesoderm/mesenchyme homeobox l may promote tumor progression in human hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Adv Clin Exp Med)
Our data reveal that Meox1 may play a crucial role in the development of HCC, and given the function of Meox1 in proliferation and metastasis, targeting Meox1 may offer a promising approach for combined and adjuvant therapeutics of HCC.

Long noncoding RNA NRAV in the 12q24.31 risk locus drives gastric cancer development through glucose metabolism reprogramming. (PubMed, Carcinogenesis)
Mechanistically, NRAV decreases the expression of key subunit genes through the electron transport chain, thereby driving the glucose metabolism reprogramming from aerobic respiration to glycolysis. These findings suggest that regulating lncRNA expression is a crucial mechanism for risk-associated variants in promoting GC development.

Establishment of a N1-methyladenosine-related risk signature for breast carcinoma by bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation. (PubMed, Breast Cancer)
An mA RNA methylation regulator-related prognostic model was constructed, and a nomogram based on the prognostic model was constructed to provide a theoretical reference for individual counseling and clinical preventive intervention in BRCA.
