Aurora-A-mediated cytosolic localization of Maf1 promotes cell proliferation via regulating mitochondrial function in HCC. (PubMed, Cell Death Discov)
Furthermore, HCC cells with overexpressed Maf1 have heightened sensitivity to Aurora-A inhibitors, suggesting a potential therapeutic vulnerability. Our study uncovers a non-canonical, oncogenic role of Maf1 in HCC and highlights the Aurora-A-Maf1 axis as a promising target for personalized cancer therapy.

MAF1 is a predictive biomarker in HER2 positive breast cancer. (PubMed, PLoS One)
In HER2-positive breast cancer patients, MAF1 expression significantly increases and correlates with five years of relapse-free survival in response to trastuzumab treatment, suggesting MAF1 is a predictive biomarker in breast cancer. These data suggest a role for MAF1 alterations in HER2-positive breast cancer. More extensive studies are warranted to determine if MAF1 serves as a predictive and prognostic biomarker in breast cancer.
