Natural resistance to cancers in long-lived mammals: genomic mechanisms and experimental evidence to explain Peto's paradox. (PubMed, Sci China Life Sci)
Of them, the YAP1 gene, harboring the A214S mutation, was identified as a key gene that upregulated tumor suppression genes by localizing to the cytoplasm, which might prohibit cancer development in the large and long-lived cetaceans. These findings provide novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying natural cancer resistance in long-lived mammals and the biological basis of Peto's paradox.

This is a preliminary report of the results of NGS analysis of a group of pediatric patients that will allow riskstratification and will provide recommendations of diverse therapeutical approaches within the concept ofpersonalized medicine. The 198 genes panel is ample and identified mutations present in a cluster of 8 genes in the entire set of cases(46/46). We will correlate the obtained mutational profile with response to treatment and relapse considering eternalfactors as nutritional status and access to medical services and medication.

Influence of clinical and genetic factors on propofol dose requirements: A genome-wide association study. (PubMed, Anesthesiology)
In this first GWAS exploring propofol requirements, we discovered novel genetic associations suggesting new biologically relevant pathways for propofol and general anesthesia. The roles of the gene products of ROBO3/FEZ1, NALCN and KCNJ2 in propofol anesthesia warrant further studies.

Unlocking the potential of Escherichia coli K-12: A novel approach for malignancy reduction in colorectal cancer through gene expression modulation. (PubMed, Gene)
Also, our findings demonstrated that E. coli K-12 may regulate the expression of genes linked to a high death rate. In summary, the results of this study suggest that E. coli K-12 can be regarded as a significant probiotic with the potential to mitigate the risk of CRC development.

LncRNA LZTS1-AS1 induces proliferation, metastasis and inhibits autophagy of pancreatic cancer cells through the miR-532 /TWIST1 signaling pathway. (PubMed, Cancer Cell Int)
Our results suggest that lncRNA LZTS1-AS1 acts as an oncogene to promote the metastasis of PANC and inhibit autophagy, and its mechanism may be to regulate TWIST1 through sponge miR-532. This study provides novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for PANC.

Increased LZTS1 expression is associated with a good response to paclitaxel-based chemotherapy in breast cancer. (PubMed, Pathol Res Pract)
For the first time, we evaluated the relationship between LZTS1 expression and chemotherapy sensitivity using the Collagen gel droplet drug sensitivity test(CD-DST) in primary cell culture of breast cancer. LZTS1 may play an important role in improving the sensitivity of paclitaxel-based breast cancer chemotherapy.
