ROCcurve analysis showed thatthe combination of four lncRNAs in uEVs and the existing marker nuclear matrix protein 22 provided substantial diagnostic value for BLCA and high-grade BLCA, with area under curve values of 0.900 and 0.917, respectively. The lncRNA panel derived from uEVs may serve as a promising non-invasive biomarker for diagnosing BLCA and high-grade BLCA.

Expanding frontiers in liquid biopsy-discovery and validation of circulating biomarkers in renal cell carcinoma and bladder cancer. (PubMed, Int Rev Cell Mol Biol)
Our results reveal that though a plethora of circulating biomarkers show early diagnostic ability, all of them are still bench-only biomarkers and require further validation. Adequate clinical trials/studies testing which of these potential markers individually or in combination, will become clinically applicable still remain elusive.

Furthermore, lncRNAs like family with sequence similarity 83, member A antisense RNA 1, zinc finger NFX1‑type containing 1 antisense RNA 1 and taurine upregulated gene 1 are implicated in enhancing invasive and proliferative capabilities of ESCC cells through the ceRNA mechanism, while interactions with RNA‑binding proteins further influence cancer cell behavior. The comprehensive analysis underscores the potential of lncRNAs as biomarkers for prognosis and therapeutic targets in ESCC, suggesting avenues for future research focused on elucidating the detailed molecular mechanisms and clinical applications of lncRNAs in ESCC management.

LINC00963 Promotes Cisplatin Resistance in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma by Interacting with miR-10a to Upregulate SKA1 Expression. (PubMed, Appl Biochem Biotechnol)
Furthermore, SKA1 overexpression reverses the promoting effect of LINC00963 on cisplatin resistance of ESCC. LINC00963 regulates TE-1/DDP cells bioactivity and mediates cisplatin resistance through interacting with miR-10a and upregulating SKA1 expression.

Novel splice variants of LINC00963 suppress colorectal cancer cell proliferation via miR-10a/miR-143/miR-217/miR-512-mediated regulation of PI3K/AKT and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways. (PubMed, Biochim Biophys Acta Gene Regul Mech)
At cellular levels, LINC00963-v2/-v3 overexpression suppressed cell proliferation, viability, and migration while increasing the apoptosis of CRC cell lines, detected by PI flow cytometry, colony formation, MTT, RT-qPCR, wound-healing, Transwell, AnnexinV-PE/7AAD, caspase3/7 activity assays, and Hoechst/PI-AO/EB staining. Overall, our results indicate that LINC00963-v2 & -v3 are novel tumor suppressor ceRNAs that attenuate the PI3K and Wnt pathways during CRC incidence and these lncRNAs may serve as potential targets for CRC therapy.
