Leptin Therapy Improves Metabolic Dysfunction in Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-induced Lipodystrophy. (PubMed, JCEM Case Rep)
We report a 66-year-old woman with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma who developed multiple endocrine disorders including AGL with metabolic abnormalities following pembrolizumab therapy. Initiation of daily metreleptin led to marked improvement in dyslipidemia, glycemic control, and hepatic steatosis, with no evidence of cancer recurrence after 2 years of leptin-replacement therapy. While further studies are warranted to establish the long-term efficacy and safety of leptin in ICI-induced AGL patients with a history of malignancy, this case report provides useful information for the management of these rare, challenging patients.

A short bout of exercise impacts TH2 inflammation of patients with obesity and well-controlled asthma. (PubMed, Ann Thorac Med)
A short bout of exercise modifies the inflammatory cytokine profile in all participants, with the most significant changes observed in the O-A group. Future studies on exercise training should include inflammatory cytokine measurements to validate these findings and further explore the unique inflammatory responses in obese asthmatic patients.

The multifaceted role of AIF-1 in metabolic dysregulation: bridging inflammation, insulin resistance, and obesity. (PubMed, Front Endocrinol (Lausanne))
Deciphering AIF-1's complex roles in inflammation and metabolic disorders offers critical insights for therapeutic development. Targeting AIF-1 or AIF1-like (AIF1L) may yield novel strategies to mitigate disease progression and enhance clinical management of obesity.

Serum VEGF levels may have a role in the assessment of treatment response and disease activity during TNFi therapy in patients with axSpA. (PubMed, Mod Rheumatol)
In patients with axSpA, TNFi therapy significantly reduces serum VEGF levels and effectively reduces disease activity. VEGF has the potential to function as a dynamic biomarker that reflects the characteristics of the disease and the response to treatment.

Chemotherapy triggers immune evasion by fostering LEPR+ Kupffer cell differentiation in liver metastases. (PubMed, Cancer Cell)
Targeting LEPR+ KCs enhances tumor immunogenicity and promotes antitumor T cell responses. Together, our study highlights the potential of combining efferocytosis inhibitors with immunotherapy to overcome chemoresistance.

Adipose Tissue and Renal Carcinoma: A Protumor Metabolic and Endocrine Alliance. (PubMed, Int J Mol Sci)
Given the role of sex hormones in metabolic regulation, we examined the expression of estrogen (ER), androgen (AR), and progesterone (PR) receptors...The dedifferentiation and browning of adipocytes, altered adipocytokine expression, and increased lactate production observed in hRAN reflect the metabolic stress imposed by the tumor environment. Here, we provide evidence, using an ex vivo model, of a dynamic partnership between human adipose tissue and ccRCC tumors.

Impact of type 2 diabetes on malignancies of the female reproductive system. (PubMed, Mol Aspects Med)
Metformin has shown robust benefits in reducing T2DM-related complications and potential in the antineoplastic setting. This review underscores the endocrine and inflammatory mechanisms linking T2DM to cancers of the female reproductive system and advocates for integrated clinical protocols that include early screening and individualized management in diabetic women.

Current and Future Pharmacological Interventions for Acquired Hypothalamic Obesity. (PubMed, Drugs)
These agents include stimulants, incretin-based therapies (e.g., glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists), insulin modulators, and melanocortin receptor agonists such as setmelanotide...Although challenging, aHO is no longer untreatable. Patients should be referred and managed at specialized centers, with pharmacological treatment preferably conducted within research settings to optimize and personalize care, and to develop evidence-based protocols for this debilitating condition.

Categorization of chronic pain subtypes and contributing biomarkers in heart failure. (PubMed, Eur J Cardiovasc Nurs)
In this study, chronic pain and its association with underlying biomarkers were characterized. Future research with a larger sample is needed to understand the unique contributions of biomarkers with targeted pain phenotypes.
