Layilin at the Crossroads of Immunity and Motility: A C-type Lectin Receptor in Hyaluronan Signaling. (PubMed, Glycobiology)
However, the mechanistic role of layilin in most of these studies remains unexplored. This review outlines current insights into Layilin as a molecular hub that links hyaluronan signaling with integrin activity and cytoskeletal dynamics, highlighting its roles in homeostasis, pathogenesis, disease prognosis, and therapeutic intervention across diverse conditions.

Association of the pri-miR-34b/c rs4938723 T > C polymorphism with hepatoblastoma susceptibility in Eastern Chinese children: A five-center case-control study. (PubMed, BMC Med Genomics)
This study provides evidence for the association between the miR-34b/c rs4938723 polymorphism and hepatoblastoma risk in Chinese Han children from East China, suggesting that this polymorphism may have potential as a biomarker for predicting hepatoblastoma susceptibility in this specific population.

Tumor-migrating peripheral Foxp3-high regulatory T cells drive poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Hepatology)
Peripheral Foxp3high Tregs migrate to tumor sites via the CCR5-CCL5 axis and mature in response to pro-inflammatory cytokines. The proportion of these Tregs in peripheral blood correlates with their presence in tumors, making them a potential biomarker for predicting HCC outcomes.

Characterization of Exhausted T Cell Signatures in Pan-Cancer Settings. (PubMed, Int J Mol Sci)
Infiltration of different immune cells was also found to be associated with the expression of the Tex-related genes in most cancer types. These findings underline that the reviving of exhausted T cells can be used to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy in cancer patients.

Transcriptomic profiling reveals mechanism, therapeutic potential, and prognostic value of cancer stemness characteristic in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. (PubMed, Funct Integr Genomics)
Basic experiments showed that miR-300, miR-361-5p, miR-1246, and miR-1290 enhanced the stemness characteristics of NPC cells, promoting proliferation, invasion, and migration. These findings suggest that these four stemness-related miRNAs could serve as therapeutic targets, potentially improving therapeutic responses by targeting stemness-related genes.

The profiles of immunosuppressive microenvironment in the Lauren intestinal-type gastric adenocarcinoma. (PubMed, Cancer Immunol Immunother)
Detailed profiles of immunosuppressive cell subpopulations in IGAC provide valuable insights into the complexity and heterogeneity of immunosuppression. These findings underscore the necessity for targeted strategies that disrupt specific immunosuppressive pathways, potentially enhancing the efficacy of immunotherapeutic interventions in IGAC.

Lipid metabolism-related gene signature predicts prognosis and unveils novel anti-tumor drugs in specific type of diffuse large B cell lymphoma. (PubMed, Mol Med)
Our results provide the first lipid metabolism-based gene signature for predicting the survival of patients with DLBCL. Furthermore, by determining novel subtypes with our lipid metabolism prognostic model we illustrated that drugs that compromising MYC target genes rather than immune checkpoint inhibitors may be beneficial to DLBCL patients with certain lipid metabolism profiles.

Role of layilin in regulating mitochondria-mediated apoptosis: a study on B cell lymphoma (BCL)-2 family proteins. (PubMed, BMC Mol Cell Biol)
This study demonstrates that layilin contributes to ΔΨm reduction to promote apoptosis by up-regulating BAD and down-regulating BCL-2 in glioma cells. Our data elucidates a new function of layilin: regulation of mitochondria-mediated apoptosis.

CREB1 promotes cholangiocarcinoma metastasis through transcriptional regulation of the LAYN-mediated TLN1/β1 integrin axis: CREB1 promotes cholangiocarcinoma metastasis through regulating LAYN/TLN1/β1 integrin axis. (PubMed, Heliyon)
Moreover, knockdown of TLN1 or CREB1 also suppressed the expression of ITGB1 and the phosphorylation levels of c-Jun, p38 MAPK, and ERK, further reversing the effects of LAYN overexpression. Our results suggest that CREB1 promotes CHOL metastasis through transcriptional regulation of the LAYN-mediated TLN1/β1 integrin axis.
