Local prostate cancer recurrence after radiotherapy or brachytherapy. What now? Retrospective analysis of salvage prostatectomy and salvage cryoablation. (PubMed, Actas Urol Esp (Engl Ed))
SRP and SCA showed similar oncological outcomes. Gleason ≥8 was the only factor related to poor outcomes. Given the low chance of cure after salvage therapies, SCA may be an adequate option in these patients.

Preliminary investigation on the correlation between karyopherin alpha 4 and acute cerebral infarction. (PubMed, Cytojournal)
In general, KPNA4 knockdown can mitigate ACI-induced damage by regulating the NF-kB pathway. This finding provides a new perspective on the treatment of ACI.

Morbidity and mortality of salvage radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer: An analysis of the National surgical quality improvement program targeted prostatectomy database. (PubMed, Urol Oncol)
SRP was associated with a 3-fold risk of SSI, 3-fold risk of leak/fistula and a 2-fold risk of unplanned readmission. Obese and elderly patients were more likely to experience urinary leak. These data can be used to optimize patients and select those who will benefit from SRP.

Feasibility of postoperative home-based pulmonary function training for lung cancer patients: a real-world study. (PubMed, J Cardiothorac Surg)
In the LBP group, at T1, the BE group demonstrated a significant advantage in alleviating anxiety symptoms compared to the control group (P < 0.05). No significant differences were observed in other outcomes.

Should we prescribe systemic antibiotics alongside periodontal therapy for diabetic patients? (PubMed, Evid Based Dent)
SRP alone and SRP with adjunctive antibiotics both proved beneficial for improving glycaemic control and periodontal health at 3 months following periodontal therapy. Participants with baseline HbA1c > 7.5% were more likely to show an improvement in HbA1c when receiving adjunctive antibiotics. Adjunctive antibiotic use slightly increased the degree of improvement in probing depths for patients with pocket depths >6 mm and T2DM.

Cryotherapy versus radical prostatectomy as a salvage treatment for radio-recurrent prostate cancer. (PubMed, World J Urol)
Both SRP and SCAP should be considered as valid treatment options for patients with local recurrence of PCa after radiotherapy. SCAP has a potentially lower risk of morbidity and acceptable intermediate-term oncological efficacy, but a longer follow up and a higher number of patients is ideally needed to draw any long-term conclusions regarding the oncological data.

Health-related quality of life following salvage radical prostatectomy for recurrent prostate cancer after radiotherapy or focal therapy. (PubMed, World J Urol)
sRP impacts HRQOL in patients with PCa after RT and FT with no significant differences. Comparison with HRQOL and BRFS of treatment alternatives is paramount to counsel patients for appropriate treatments.

Deep Learning Techniques to Characterize the RPS28P7 Pseudogene and the Metazoa-SRP Gene as Drug Potential Targets in Pancreatic Cancer Patients. (PubMed, Biomedicines)
We propose RPS28P7 mRNA as the most druggable target that can be modulated with small molecules or the RNA technology approach. These markers could be added as criteria to patient stratification in future PaCa drug trials, but further validation in the target populations is encouraged.

miR-624 accelerates the growth of liver cancer cells by inhibiting EMC3. (PubMed, Noncoding RNA Res)
Importantly, our findings indicate that miR-624 affects some signaling pathway in liver cancer, including Wnt signaling pathway,Hippo signaling pathway,mTOR signaling pathway, Ras signaling pathway,MAPK signaling pathway,PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, erbB signaling pathway. These results provide a basis for the treatment of human liver cancer.

Recurrent Gleason Score 6 Prostate Cancer After Radiotherapy or Ablation: Should We Observe Them All? Results from a Large Multicenter Salvage Radical Prostatectomy Consortium. (PubMed, Eur Urol Focus)
GS 6 sRP-proven PCa recurring after nonsurgical primary treatment has almost no metastatic potential, while patients experience relevant morbidity of the procedure. However, a significant proportion of GS 6 cases at pre-sRP biopsy are upgraded at sRP. In the idea not to overtreat, efforts should be made to improve the diagnostic accuracy of pre-sRP biopsy.

SIRT1 promotes the progression and chemoresistance of colorectal cancer through the p53/miR-101/KPNA3 axis. (PubMed, Cancer Biol Ther)
In addition, in vivo data also showed that SIRT1 promoted the growth, metastasis and chemoresistance to 5-FU of CRC cells via regulation of the p53/miR-101/KPNA3 axis. In conclusion, SIRT1 can function as an oncogene in CRC by accelerating the growth, metastasis and chemoresistance to 5-FU of CRC cells through the p53/miR-101/KPNA3 axis.
