    Trastuzumab Potentiates Antitumor Activity of Thiopyrano[2,3-d]Thiazole Derivative in AGS Gastric Cancer Cells. (PubMed, Molecules)
    Additionally, a significant increase in p53 protein levels and modulation of interleukin levels, including a marked reduction in IL-6 levels, were observed, suggesting an impact on apoptotic and inflammatory responses. These findings indicate that the combined use of LES-6400 and trastuzumab is a promising therapeutic strategy for gastric cancer, warranting further investigation into the mechanisms of action and potential clinical applications of this combined approach.

    The levels of IL8 and IL15 were elevated in MM patients with AA, implicating their potential roles in this co-occurrence. Response to IST points to the possibility of myeloma-dysregulated immune system leading to autoreactive T-cell destruction of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, offering insights for developing new treatment for cytopenia in MM.

    Interleukin levels and depressive symptoms in psoriatic arthritis patients: insights from a case-control study on socio-demographic factors and disease perception. (PubMed, Rheumatol Int)
    The coexistence of depression in the course of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) is associated with higher levels of IL-1 and IL-6. Depression has a negative impact on the perception of the underlying disease and is linked to reduced social and occupational activity.

    Influence of Zika virus on the cytotoxicity, cell adhesion, apoptosis and inflammatory markers of glioblastoma cells. (PubMed, Oncol Lett)
    These findings indicate that ZIKV infection could lead to reduced cell viability, elevated CD73 expression, improved cellular adherence, and higher rates of apoptosis in glioblastoma cells. Further studies are required to explore the potential use of ZIKV in the treatment of GBM.

    Factors related to central nervous system involvement of primary vitreoretinal lymphoma. (PubMed, Graefes Arch Clin Exp Ophthalmol)
    Patients concurrently diagnosed with CNS lymphoma and VRL had a shorter OS and a lower 5-year survival rate. In patients with PVRL, the recurrence of VRL, high interleukin-10, and sub-RPE infiltration were associated with CNS involvement.

    IL17A influenced the level of IL33 in the cancer group (p = 0.007). This study suggested that cytokine variation profiles could be useful for detecting colon cancer and predicting its outcome.

    Increased Bone Turnover and Decreased BCMA Levels in Patients with Response to Anti-BCMA CAR T Cell Therapy in Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma (ASH 2023)
    MethodsWe analyzed 28 consecutive pts with RRMM who underwent treatment with either Idecabtagene-Vicleucel (n=27) or Ciltacabtagen-Autoleucel (n=1) at our center between December 2021 and February 2023...Within 14 d after infusion, 82% developed a cytokine release syndrome (CRS, °I or II), in 30% of which Tocilizumab was applied...Our data implies, that response to anti-BCMA CAR T cells is accompanied by increasing bone formation. Further analyses are needed to evaluate, whether this treatment can have positive long-term effects on MBD.

    Early Plasma Levels of IL7 and IL15 Predict Response to Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell Therapy (CAR-T) in Large B-Cell Lymphoma (LBCL) Patients (ASH 2023)
    , fludarabine dose from 25 to 30 mg/m 2, and cyclophosphamide dose from 250 to 500 mg/m 2). Analyses are ongoing to characterize associations of patient characteristics, product differences, and circulating immune cell subsets with changes in cytokine profile over time. Further studies are warranted to validate our findings in a larger data set.

    Idiopathic multicentric castleman's disease mimicking immunoglobulin G4-related disease responding well to Bortezomib: a case report. (PubMed, BMC Nephrol)
    The diagnosis of Castleman must be distinguished from other disorders such as IgG4-RD, malignant lymphoma, reactive hyperplasia of various lymph nodes (mostly caused by viral infections), plasmacytoma, advanced HIV and rheumatic diseases. Besides observing systemic symptoms, laboratory tests such as immunoglobulin levels, complement levels, interleukin levels, and C-reactive protein levels should also be performed in order to determine a diagnosis.

    Modulation of bone marrow and peripheral blood cytokine levels by age and clonal hematopoiesis in healthy individuals. (PubMed, Clin Immunol)
    CH was associated with higher BM levels of MIF and IL-1 beta, lower BM levels of IL-9 and IL-5 and higher PB levels of IL-15, VEGF-A, IL-2, CXCL8, CXCL1 and G-CSF. These reference values provide a useful tool to investigate anomalies related to inflammaging and potentially leading to the onset of age-related myeloid malignancies or inflammatory conditions.
