Fermented Milk Containing Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus SNU50430 Modulates Immune Responses and Gut Microbiota in Antibiotic-Treated mice. (PubMed, J Microbiol Biotechnol)
Acetate and butyrate were increased in mice with fermented milk and fecal microbiota of FM+LR+Abx-treated mice were highly enriched with butyrate metabolism pathway compared to water-treated mice (P < 0.05). Thus, fermented milk containing L. rhamnosus SNUG50430 was shown to ameliorate adverse health effects caused by antibiotics through modulating immune responses and the gut microbiota.

Plasma profiles of inflammatory cytokines in children with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury: a prospective cohort study. (PubMed, Eur J Pediatr)
After m-sTBI, the plasma profiles of inflammatory cytokines are markedly altered in children. The trends of IL-6 and IL-8 expression vary among m-sTBI children with different outcomes. Elevated plasma IL-6 and IL-8 levels are related to in-hospital mortality and unfavorable 6-month outcomes.

Interleukine-10 in ovarian cancer. (PubMed, Chin Clin Oncol)
As the literature of basic science research studying the role of IL-10 in the TME of OC scopes a few decades and some data is contrasting, it is important to review the literature and provide concise input derived from it. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of IL-10 in OC, highlighting its influence on tumor growth, immune evasion, and potential as a therapeutic target.

The impact of sericin on inflammation, oxidative stress, and lipid metabolism in female rats with experimental knee osteoarthritis. (PubMed, Clin Rheumatol)
Sericin shows promising potential for reducing inflammation, oxidative stress, and lipid metabolism in experimental models of KOA in rats. However, further clinical research is necessary to validate the potential of sericin as a therapeutic agent for treating KOA. Key Points • Sericin can reduce knee osteoarthritis (KOA) symptoms in an experimental rat model. • In particular, in the serum of an experimental KOA rat model, sericin specifically reduces the levels of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), and increases the levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-10. • Sericin reduced lipid metabolism via the sterol regulatory protein (SREBP)-1C and SREBP-2 pathways and oxidative stress in the serum of the experimental KOA rat model. • The intra-articular administration of sericin has been shown to significantly reduce lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, and inflammation, as supported by biochemical analysis. These findings suggest its promising potential as an alternative treatment option for KOA.

Taurine and COQ-10 alone notably improved the antioxidant/anti-inflammatory status relative to controls. Among other mechanisms, taurine and COQ-10 abated CPZ-induced hematological deficiencies, via decreased serum levels of oxidative stress, and pro-inflammatory cytokines release, with increased antioxidants and anti-inflammation function.

Serum interleukin-10 and alpha-fetoprotein: A combined diagnostic approach for hepatocellular carcinoma in Egyptians with HCV. (PubMed, Pathol Res Pract)
the reliability of AFP as a major HCC marker was poor. However, IL-10 levels are a novel biomarker for the degree of HCC inflammation, considering IL-10's potential role in HCV-HCC development. We suggest combining AFP with IL-10 to improve the diagnostic and prognostic value of HCC considerably. Future research on these biomarkers should prioritize their clinical validity, prognostic usefulness, and compatibility with other therapeutic approaches as immunotherapy.

The compound exhibits pleiotropic biological activity and offers considerable promise as an anti-cancer agent, which may address the current paucity of treatment options and high mortality rate among patients with gastrointestinal tumors.

Assessment and prognostic significance of a serum cytokine panel in diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma. (PubMed, Oncol Lett)
It was also found that raised serum IL-6 and IL-10 levels, together with reduced levels of IL-17, were associated with survival of <1 year in patients with DLBCL (P<0.05), although no significant link was found between cytokine levels and long-term overall survival. In conclusion, the serum levels of IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, TNF-α and IFN-γ can potentially serve as biological indicators of DLBCL tumor immune status, and combined application with the IPI score can be a robust prognostic indicator in patients with DLBCL.

An inulin-type fructan CP-A from Codonopsis pilosula attenuates experimental colitis in mice by promoting autophagy-mediated inactivation of NLRP3 inflammasome. (PubMed, Chin J Nat Med)
Notably, the inhibition of autophagy via chloroquine (CQ) diminished CP-A's protective impact against colitis in vivo. These findings elucidate that CP-A's therapeutic effect on experimental colitis possibly involves mitigating intestinal inflammation through autophagy-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome inactivation. Consequently, inulin-type fructan CP-A emerges as a promising drug candidate for UC treatment.

The involvement of neuroinflammation in an animal model of dementia and depression. (PubMed, Prog Neuropsychopharmacol Biol Psychiatry)
Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of the treatment with fluoxetine and/or galantamine and/or donepezil on the levels of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in a mixed animal model of depression and dementia. In addition, fluoxetine + donepezil reversed the reduction of IL-10 levels in the hippocampus. The results indicate a pathophysiological interaction between AD and depression, and the association of medications in the future may be a possible therapeutic strategy to reduce inflammation, especially the fluoxetine-associated treatments.
