Importantly, genetic ablation and molecular studies identify microtubule affinity regulating kinase 1 (MARK1) and glutamate metabotropic receptor 8 (GRM8) as critical modulators of the resistance phenomenon, potentially by impairing spatiotemporal signaling dynamics of Smad activity. Our findings unveil a novel phenomenon wherein epithelial HCC cells may exploit senescence plasticity as a mechanism to oppose TGF-β anti-tumor responses and progress towards more aggressive HCC phenotypes.

Additionally, administration of VU0155041 or AZ12216052 to the RN at 2 weeks post-SNI inhibited the overexpressions of TNF-α and IL-1β induced by SNI. These findings suggest that red nucleus mGluR4 and mGluR8 instead of mGluR7 inhibit nociception and the development of neuropathic pain by restraining the expressions of TNF-α and IL-1β.

Region-based analyses of existing genome-wide association studies identifies novel potential genetic susceptibility regions for glioma. (PubMed, Cancer Res Commun)
Our region-based approach identified 11 genomic regions that suggest association with glioma risk of which two regions, 16p13.3 and 1p36.21, warrant further investigation as genetic susceptibility regions for female and male risk respectively. Our analyses suggest that genetic susceptibility to glioma may differ by sex and highlights the possibility that synapse-related genes play a role in glioma susceptibility.

Areas under the curves (AUC) corresponding to one-, three- and five-year survival were 0.731, 0.765 and 0.731, respectively. In this study, an efficient HCC prognostic prediction model was constructed by only GPCR-related genes, which are all potential targets for HCC treatment.

Among the genes of fibrogenesis or DNA repair, cg14143055 (ADAMDEC1) is located in the binding region of the HOX gene family transcription factors (TFs), while cg05921699 (CD79A), cg06196379 (TREM1) and cg10990993 (MLH1) are located in the binding region of the ZNF protein family transcription factor (TF). Thus, the DNA methylation profile in the liver in HCV-induced HCC is unique and differs depending on the degree of surrounding tissue lesion - liver fibrosis or liver cirrhosis.

Molecular markers in group 3 and group 4 medulloblastomas (ECP 2022)
This study confirms differential expression of the five genes analysed between the four main molecular subgroups of medulloblastoma, furthermore, help to differentiate amongst groups 3 and 4. Outputs provide continued support for group 3 and group 4 dis-tinction. Next step is to validate the set of genes by methylation or with an independent validation cohort of medulloblastomas.

The cross-validation root-mean-square errors (RMSEs) are much smaller than those by the endpoint methods, and the correlation coefficients are comparable to the best endpoint methods for both mGluRs. The model may provide a reference for better clinical management of HCC patients in the era of cancer precision medicine.
