GAS1 Promotes Ferroptosis of Liver Cells in Acetaminophen-Induced Acute Liver Failure. (PubMed, Int J Med Sci)
GAS1 overexpression promoted ferroptosis-induced lipid peroxide accumulation via p53, inhibiting its downstream target, solute carrier family 7 member 11. Collectively, our findings suggest that GAS1 overexpression plays a key role in aggravating APAP-induced acute liver injury by promoting ferroptosis-induced accumulation of lipid peroxides.

Bifidobacterium adolescentis orchestrates CD143 cancer-associated fibroblasts to suppress colorectal tumorigenesis by Wnt signaling-regulated GAS1. (PubMed, Cancer Commun (Lond))
These results highlighted that B.a induced a new subset of CD143 CAFs by Wnt signaling-regulated GAS1 to suppress tumorigenesis and provided a novel therapeutic target for probiotic-based modulation of TME in CRC.

Comprehensive in silico analysis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol- anchored protein (GPI-AP) related genes expression profiles in human normal and cancer tissues. (PubMed, Yi Chuan)
The expression of GAS1, GPC2 and GPC4 was increased only in early glioma and glioblastoma multiforme indicating that some GPI-APs such as GAS1 can be used as biomarkers of glioma. This study provides new insights into the expression of GPI-AP related genes in normal and cancer tissues, and lays a solid foundation for the development of GPI-APs as biomarkers.

Primary testicular lymphoma demonstrates overexpression of the Wilms tumor 1 gene and different mRNA and miRNA expression profiles compared to nodal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. (PubMed, Hematol Oncol)
This research revealed higher WT1 expression in PTL relative to nodal DLBCL, suggesting that a specific miRNA subset may target WT1 expression and impact the PI3k/Akt pathway in PTL. Further investigation is needed to explore WT1's biological role in PTL and its potential as a therapeutic target.

A positive feedback loop between TAZ and miR-942-3p modulates proliferation, angiogenesis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition process, glycometabolism and ROS homeostasis in human bladder cancer. (PubMed, J Exp Clin Cancer Res)
Our study identified a novel positive feedback loop between TAZ and miR-942-3p that regulates biological functions in bladder cancer cells via GAS1 expression and illustrated that TAZ, miR-942-3p and GAS1 might be potential therapeutic targets for bladder cancer treatment.

Simultaneous Treatment with Soluble Forms of GAS1 and PTEN Reduces Invasiveness and Induces Death of Pancreatic Cancer Cells. (PubMed, Onco Targets Ther)
In the present work, we show that the combined treatment with tGAS1 and PTEN-L inhibits the growth of pancreatic cancer cells, by reducing the activities of both AKT and ERK 1/2, decreases cell invasiveness, and restrains tumor growth in a mouse model. The combined administration of tGAS1 and PTEN-L could be a valuable adjunct therapy for the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Fine-Tuning of GLI Activity through Arginine Methylation: Its Mechanisms and Function. (PubMed, Cells)
Furthermore, the GLI and PRMT families have strong links with various cancers through cancer stem cell maintenance. Therefore, PRMT-mediated regulation of GLI activity would have important roles in cancer stem cell maintenance.
