These findings establish G2E3 as a novel ubiquitin-related regulator of autophagy, specifically facilitating autophagosome-lysosome fusion via a GABARAPs-dependent mechanism. In conclusion, our study indicates that ESCRT III-mediated lysosomal repair can relieve cisplatin-induced cell apoptosis and restore normal autophagy function in renal tubular epithelial cells. This mechanism plays a protective role against cisplatin-induced AKI.

Structural and functional characterization of the role of acetylation on the interactions of the human Atg8-family proteins with the autophagy receptor TP53INP2/DOR. (PubMed, Autophagy)
The in vitro results were confirmed in cells using acetyl-mimetic variants of GABARAP and LC3A to examine nuclear/cytoplasmic shuttling and colocalization with TP53INP2. Together, the results demonstrate that TP53INP2 shows selectivity to the GABARAP subfamily and acetylation at the second Lys of GABARAP and LC3A disrupts key interactions with TP53INP2 required for their nuclear/cytoplasmic shuttling.

Differentiation of ovarian serous carcinoma from ovarian clear cell carcinoma using a 10-gene signature selected by comprehensive gene expression analysis. (PubMed, Fukushima J Med Sci)
Our data suggest that the 10 candidate genes would be an excellent marker for distinguishing OSC from OCCC. Furthermore, the molecular signatures of the 10 genes may enlighten us on the differences in carcinogenesis, and provide a theoretical basis for OCCC's resistance to chemotherapy in the future.
