Meanwhile, we found that the transcription factor SP1 activated PROX1-AS1/miR-32/FBXL20 axis, thereby promoting CRC progression. Our data demonstrated that PROX1-AS1 served as a promising prognostic biomarker for CRC, and the potential mechanism was unraveled.

FBXL20 promotes breast cancer malignancy by inhibiting apoptosis through degradation of PUMA and BAX. (PubMed, J Biol Chem)
We showed that high level expression of FBXL20 in cancer cells reduces therapeutic drug-induced apoptosis and promotes chemo-resistance. Overall, this study highlights the importance of targeting FBXL20 in cancers in conjunction with chemotherapy and may represent a promising anti-cancer strategy to overcome chemoresistance.

Consistent with the common loss of p53 function in pancreatic cancer, FBXL20 mRNA expression is significantly lower in pancreatic cancer tissues compared to pancreatic normal tissues and low FBXL20 levels correlate with poor patient survival. Collectively, these studies delineate a novel mechanism by which the p53/FBXL20 axis negatively regulates PR55α protein stability.
