Chemical identification of the Viola phillipina extracts and their anti-acne activity: A comparison with isotretinoin and salicylic acid. (PubMed, Fitoterapia)
Spearman correlation confirmed that anti-acne activity was positively correlated with synergistic effects of caffeic acid and 6,7-dihydroxycoumarin. In summary, Viola philippica extract exhibits promising multi-target anti-acne potential, supporting its development as a novel multifunctional treatment strategy.

Systemic inflammatory profiles are associated with long-term kidney failure and patient mortality in chronic kidney disease. (PubMed, Clin Kidney J)
In CKD G3 patients, systemic inflammation can be stratified using cytokine profiles. Specific cytokine clusters are linked to faster progression of CKD and cardiovascular disease, and to worse long-term outcomes including kidney failure and mortality.

Schisandrin B suppresses cholangiocarcinoma by targeting the ROS/p38 MAPK/NF-κB axis. (PubMed, Oncol Lett)
Mechanistic studies further identified that Sch B concurrently inhibits p38 MAPK signaling through reduced phosphorylated-p38 and AP-1 expression, and suppresses NF-κB pathway activation by impeding p65 nuclear translocation, leading to diminished release of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α. These findings collectively establish that Sch B exerts its anti-CCA effects through ROS-mediated coordinated regulation of both p38MAPK and NF-κB pathways, underscoring its potential as a multi-target natural therapeutic agent for CCA treatment and providing a solid foundation for further development.

The distinct roles of Negativicoccus and Fusobacterium in proximal- and late-onset colorectal cancer. (PubMed, Gut Microbes)
These findings highlight distinct microbial contributions to CRC pathogenesis, with Negativicoccus influencing proliferation and inflammation, whereas Fusobacterium promotes migration and invasion. Understanding these pathways offers potential for harnessing the gut microbiome's diagnostic and therapeutic power in CRC.

Diagnostic Efficacy of Serum Biomarkers for Oral Cancer: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. (PubMed, Asian Pac J Cancer Prev)
Serum biomarkers are a valid tool and, overall, have good diagnostic potential in identifying the target condition. They can be used as an alternative adjunct to histopathology. Serum biomarkers also have significant potential in predicting and diagnosing disease outcomes, and they can improve the quality and reach of early screening and detection of OSCC. Serum biomarkers can be employed for early diagnosis and prompt treatment under the secondary level of prevention.

Effects of immunological and metabolic parameters on the patient's functional outcome in the acute period of ischemic stroke (PubMed, Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova)
A worse FO score was observed in patients with MS than in metabolically healthy patients, and this was associated with hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, the number of metabolic factors, and the expression of CCL3, CCL2, and MIF.

Wood smoke particles elicit events associated with adverse effects in human lung epithelial cells. (PubMed, Front Toxicol)
Lastly, epiregulin, a known growth factor upregulated in premalignant stages of lung cancer specifically during tumor-promoting inflammation, was also significantly elevated above control in response to 5 μg/mL WSP. These early results support a link between inflammation and gap junctions and provide a critical new mechanistic understanding of how WSP contribute to early adverse events in a lung cell line along with the potential to prevent these adverse outcomes with interventions such as parthenolide.

Resveratrol supplementation mitigates age-related declines in egg production, quality, and ovarian health of laying hens. (PubMed, Anim Nutr)
RES also suppressed IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and nuclear factor κ-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) expression, and enhanced anti-apoptotic genes B-cell lymphoma-extra-large and B-cell lymphoma 2 expression (P < 0.05). In conclusion, RES supplementation (400 mg/kg) effectively improved laying performance, egg quality, and oxidative and inflammatory responses in laying hens, suggesting its potential as a nutritional strategy to support laying performance during the late production stages.
