These findings highlight the tumor-promoting potential of salivary and microbial components, suggesting new avenues for diagnostic and therapeutic strategies targeting the oral microenvironment in OSCC.

BCOR-Mutated Conventional and Dedifferentiated Chondrosarcoma: A Clinicopathologic Study. (PubMed, Genes Chromosomes Cancer)
The prevalence of BCOR mutations occurred in 5% of conventional and dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma, and these were associated with larger tumor size (p = 0.024), metastasis at the time of diagnosis (p ≤ 0.001) and higher T category (3-4 vs. 1-2) (p = 0.009). Although larger studies are necessary to clarify the full impact of BCOR mutations on patients with conventional and dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma, our data indicate that BCOR genetic aberrations are associated with adverse clinical features.

Collagen proteins, thrombospondin 1 and lumican are differentially expressed across breast cancer subtypes by functional proteomics from core needle biopsy samples of Taiwanese breast cancer. (PubMed, Biochem Biophys Rep)
Disease-specific survival discrepancy was observed comparing breast cancer patients of the upper and lower quartile of the collagen family (COL2A1, COL11A1, COL6A1, COL6A2), THBS1 and LUM gene expression signature (log-rank test, P = 0.06). Functional proteomics suggested that collagen proteins, thrombospondin 1 and lumican are differentially expressed across breast cancer subtypes.

NOX4 overexpression reversed the protective effects of miR-708-5p, confirming the functional significance of this regulatory axis.ConclusionmiR-708-5p is downregulated in OA and exerts chondroprotective effects. These findings suggest that restoring miR-708-5p expression may effectively suppress the NOX4/NF-κB axis and modulate chondrocyte inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and matrix degradation.

As a result, the expressions of COL2A1 and aggrecan were significantly downregulated in the OUMS-27 cells without inducing cell death, but the expressions of proteases that play an important role in cartilage destruction were not affected. Inhibition of the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) suppressed the AGE3-induced reduction in cartilage component production, suggesting the involvement of RAGE in the action of AGE3.
