Cytotoxic and immunomodulatory activity of CD151-LEL-based peptides in breast cancer and THP-1 cells. (PubMed, Hum Immunol)
Furthermore, conditioned media from the treated BC cells induced the proliferation of PMA treated monocyte like THP-1 cells and provoked the secretion of IL-6, while reducing IL-10. These findings suggest that the CD151-LEL-based peptides and their engineered multiepitope construct represent a prospective vaccine candidate for in vivo experimental validation, which can be used as a therapeutic vaccine for breast cancer.

Glycosylation of Tetraspanin CD151 Defines the Invasive Phenotype of Human Breast Cancer Cells. (PubMed, FASEB J)
STT3B is a key player in the production and modification of N-glycans, and a low level of STT3B therefore results in a predominant expression of non-glycosylated CD151 and in the accumulation of oligomannose-type glycans in CD151. The results suggest that the expression of the non-glycosylated form of CD151 confers an invasive phenotype to cancer cells, and as such, it could be a therapeutic target to block metastasis in breast cancer.

Trichomonas vaginalis adhesion protein 65 facilitates human papillomavirus entry via SPCS1-mediated upregulation of CD151 and HSPG2 in keratinocyte lineage. (PubMed, Infect Dis Poverty)
Our study unveils a previously uncharacterized mechanism by which T. vaginalis exacerbates HPV infection: TvAP65 hijacks SPCS1 to transcriptionally upregulate CD151 and HSPG2, thereby facilitating HPV entry into host cells. This TvAP65-SPCS1-CD151/HSPG2 axis highlights potential therapeutic targets to disrupt the synergy between HPV and T. vaginalis, offering new strategies for cervical cancer prevention.

Insights into the Bioactivities and Mechanism of Action of the Microbial Diketopiperazine Cyclic Dipeptide Cyclo(L-leucyl-L-prolyl). (PubMed, Mar Drugs)
The review sheds light on the pharmacology and specific properties of cyclo(L-Leu-L-Pro), which can be useful for the development of a novel therapeutic approach for different human pathologies. It is also of interest to help define the bioactivity and mechanisms of action of closely related DKP-based natural products.

Colonization by Porphyromonas gingivalis in cervical squamous cell carcinomas promotes metastasis through FimA/CD151/ITGB1 signaling. (PubMed, J Transl Med)
This study identifies P. gingivalis as a tumor-associated bacterium that promotes CSCC metastasis through direct interaction between its fimbrial adhesin FimA and the host CD151/ITGB1 complex. This interaction activates JNK/paxillin signaling, induces cytoskeletal reorganization, and enhances the metastatic capacity of CSCC cells. Targeting this microbial-host interaction may provide a novel therapeutic intervention for P. gingivalis-driven CSCC metastasis.

Dynamics of NK cell subsets following autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adult oncologic patients. (PubMed, Front Immunol)
Finally, in patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), we observed a correlation between NK cell maturation status and progression-free survival. Collectively, our findings provide valuable insights into NK cell dynamics during immune reconstitution following autoHSCT and may inform of strategies for improving patients' management.

Silencing CD151 Gene in Donor Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells Attenuates Exosome-Driven Functions of Recipient Cells. (PubMed, Exp Cell Res)
Additionally, the CD151 exosome induced higher mRNA expression of cyclin D1, CDK4, CDK6, MMP-2, and MMP-9 in MCF-7 cells and VEGF in endothelial cells compared to iCD151 exosomes. These findings demonstrate the potential role of CD151 in orchestrating exosome dynamics for the remodelling of either the adjacent tissue or those in distant organs by transferring metastatic phenotypes from TNBC cells to recipient cells.

Senescent fibroblasts secrete CTHRC1 to promote cancer stemness in hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Cell Commun Signal)
Our study revealed that SCAFs were strongly correlated with cancer stemness in HCC. A novel machine learning model based on senescent CAF-related genes was constructed to accurately predict prognosis in HCC patients. Furthermore, CTHRC1 was identified as a novel prognostic and therapeutic biomarker to predict poor prognosis in HCC and promote cancer stemness and metastasis through the Notch signaling pathway, with its expression being transcriptionally regulated by SOX4.

An integrated transcriptome, proteome and targeted metabolome analysis reveals genes and steroids related to gonadal development in Ruditapes philippinarum. (PubMed, Comp Biochem Physiol Part D Genomics Proteomics)
This study established a multi-omics platform to detect the genes-hormone interactions, and evaluate expression dynamics of 14 key regulators across gonadal stages and sexes in R philippinarum, concurrently evaluating steroid hormones roles. These findings provide valuable resources for further research into the comprehensive regulatory mechanisms governing gonad development in clams.
