PBVHx-based microspheres for controlled BMP2 release and enhanced bone regeneration in a disuse osteoporosis mouse model. (PubMed, Biomater Transl)
In a mouse hindlimb unloading osteoporosis model, micro computed tomography and histological evaluations confirmed that injectable sB2PM microspheres significantly enhanced bone regeneration, collagen secretion, and ALP and runt-related transcription factor 2 protein expression. This study highlights the potential of sB2PM microspheres with controlled BMP2 release for future bone regeneration therapies.

A novel prognostic model for Hedgehog signaling pathway-related genes predicts the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Front Oncol)
Moreover, some functional pathways were identified in the high-risk group in the low-risk group. We developed a novel five-gene prognostic model centered on Hedgehog signaling pathway-related genes, which holds potential as a valuable prognostic tool for HCC and may provide guidance for immunotherapy selection.

A Multiomic Approach Integrating Genomic and Metabolomic Data Highlights Colorectal Cancer Pathways. (PubMed, J Proteome Res)
RNA sequencing was performed in the two sets of clones (3 edited and 3 unedited) followed by pathway enrichment, and gene ontology analysis depicted extensive deregulation of genes (448 up- and 195 downregulated) involved in cell division and several metabolic processes. Overall, these findings demonstrate that integrating genetic and metabolomic data highlights the importance of the RHPN2 intronic locus in CRC potentially through metabolic processes affecting excretion of dietary and other metabolites.

Notably, eight of the 21 prioritized cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-4, VEGFA, IL-2, IL-1β, IFN-γ, IL-17) are known targets of drugs currently used as immunosuppressants and antitumor agents. The pivotal role of these cytokines in ASD pathogenesis provides a rationale for potentially repurposing such inhibitory drugs for the treatment of autism spectrum disorders.

Molecular Characterization and Functional Insights into Goose IGF2BP2 During Skeletal Muscle Development. (PubMed, Animals (Basel))
Functionally, overexpression of IGF2BP2 in skeletal muscle satellite cells (SMSCs) was associated with significant changes in the expression of several genes linked to muscle development and signaling pathways, including upregulation of IGF1, EGFR, FGF19, BMP6, BMP2, ACVR1C and WNT5A and downregulation of MYBPC3, NODAL, HOXD13, TNXB, and ADD2 (Padj < 0.01). Furthermore, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis of these genes suggests that IGF2BP2 may coordinate key genes, contributing to its potential role in skeletal muscle development in geese.
