Endothelial Cell Autophagy Suppresses Metastasis In Mouse Mammary and Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor Models. (PubMed, bioRxiv)
Similarly, in the Rat Insulin Promoter T antigen pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (RT2-PNET) model, endothelial cell deletion of Atg12 promotes liver micro-metastases. Taken together, these results from distinct preclinical cancer models reveal that endothelial cell autophagy suppresses metastatic seeding and progression and broach that autophagy inhibition in host endothelial cells may adversely influence the efficacy of systemic autophagy-lysosomal pathway inhibition in the clinical oncology setting.

Combination treatment of cordycepin and radiation induces apoptosis accompanied by protective autophagy in TM3 mouse Leydig progenitor cells. (PubMed, J Food Drug Anal)
Although apoptosis is eventually induced in TM3 cells, protective autophagy is also activated to mitigate the cytotoxic impact of the combination treatment. This finding may provide a reference for the development of safe therapeutic regimen for Leydig cell tumors.

Computational analysis identifies pathogenic nsSNPs in ATG10, an E2-like ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme of the autophagy pathway. (PubMed, Int J Biol Macromol)
Additionally, two regulatory elements, 33 transcription factors, 13 phosphorylation, 2 SUMOylation, and 2 ubiquitination sites were predicted in Atg10. Based on these analyses, our study indicated that the identified missense SNPs could act as potential targets for various proteomic investigations, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic strategies in future studies.

CD147 promotes NSCLC metastasis by inducing secretory autophagy-dependent exosome secretion via TRIM56-mediated ubiquitination and degradation of GCN2. (PubMed, Cell Death Differ)
Collectively, our findings reveal a novel mechanism whereby CD147 promotes crinophagy-mediated exosome secretion through dual regulation of GCN2 stability and calcium homeostasis, thereby accelerating NSCLC progression. Our work establishes a new molecular link between autophagy modulation and cancer progression.

While the cells were treated with chloroquine (CQ), an autophagy inhibitor, the expression of Cl...Mechanistically, TRIM21 loss inhibited the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby regulating cell growth and inducing autophagy-mediated apoptosis. Collectively, our findings provide novel insights into the role of TRIM21 in ESCC and offer a potential therapeutic target for ESCC.

Genistein Exerts Anti-proliferative Effects by Regulating Apoptosis and Autophagy-Related Genes and MicroRNAs in Human Urinary Bladder Neoplasm EJ138 Cells: An Experimental and Bioinformatic Study. (PubMed, Iran J Pharm Res)
The results of this study suggest that genistein suppresses the proliferation and growth of human BC cells by modulating genes and microRNAs involved in apoptosis and autophagy. Therefore, genistein may serve as a novel therapeutic agent for BC treatment.
