Dysregulated Angiogenin and Related Pathways in the Ventral Midbrain of "Redhead" Mice with MC1R Disruption. (PubMed, J Neurophysiol)
Our results suggest a differential gene expression pattern in the VMB as a result of MC1R mutation. Notably, lower ANG expression may be involved in the neuronal loss observed in the VMB of the MC1Re/e mice.

Angiogenin-catalyzed cleavage within tRNA anticodon-loops identified by cP-RNA-seq. (PubMed, Biosci Biotechnol Biochem)
By performing cP-RNA-seq, which selectively captures cP-containing RNAs, we identified Ang-generated tRNA halves and the specific cleavage positions within tRNA anticodon-loops responsible for their generation. Our results provide insights into the anticodon-loop cleavage and the selective production of a specific subset of tRNA halves by Ang.

Terrein Exhibits Anti-tumor Activity by Suppressing Angiogenin Expression in Malignant Melanoma Cells. (PubMed, Cancer Genomics Proteomics)
This study demonstrated that terrein has anti-tumor effects against malignant melanoma. Furthermore, chemically synthesized non-natural terrein can be mass-produced and serve as a novel potential anti-tumor drug candidate.

Investigating angiogenin/ribonuclease 5 as a diagnostic biomarker for bladder cancer: In-depth analysis from a systematic review and meta-analysis. (PubMed, Clin Biochem)
Both Begg and Mazumdar Rank Correlation Test (p = 0.229) and Egger's Test of the Intercept (p = 0.135) revealed no significant evidence of publication bias. Our meta-analysis confirms ANG/RNase 5 as a reliable biomarker for early bladder cancer detection, showing strong diagnostic accuracy and no publication bias.

Colorectal Cancer-Associated Myofibroblasts Exhibit Enhanced Angiogenin Expression and Signaling via the PLXNB2 Receptor. (PubMed, J Surg Res)
Compared to normal human colon tissue, CRC tissue is associated with an enrichment of myofibroblasts that exhibit upregulated expression of angiogenin and the angiogenin receptor PLXNB2. CRC cells engage in autocrine signaling via angiogenin and paracrine signaling with myofibroblasts via PLXNB2. Angiogenin appears to be directly involved in tumor-stromal cell communication in human CRC tissue and may play an important role in disease progression.

Molecular and clinical characterization of ANG expression in gliomas and its association with tumor-related immune response. (PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
ANG seems to be primarily associated with immune activities of macrophages and APCs in gliomas. Furthermore, ANG is mainly expressed in neoplastic cells and TAMs and is involved in the initiation and progression of neoplastic cells as well as macrophage polarization.

The effect of growth hormone on ovarian function recovery in a mouse model of ovarian insufficiency. (PubMed, Front Endocrinol (Lausanne))
To evaluate the effects and mechanisms of action of growth hormone (GH) in the recovery of ovarian function in ovarian insufficiency induced by cyclophosphamide (CP) in a mouse model...Many genes involved in angiogenesis, especially Leptin (Lep), platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 (Pecam-1), and angiogenin (Ang) were up-regulated in the GH treatment groups. GH treatment may promote the recovery of ovarian function in ovarian insufficiency induced by the administration of CP via decreasing apoptosis and stromal fibrosis and upregulating Lep, Pecam-1, and Ang genes.

Human and mouse angiogenins: Emerging insights and potential opportunities. (PubMed, Front Microbiol)
Here, we comprehensively reviewed studies on the structures and functions of human and mouse angiogenins. Understanding the structure and function of angiogenins from a broader perspective could facilitate future research related to development of novel therapeutics on its biological processes, especially in gastrointestinal cancers.

Highly Sensitive Detection Method Reveals Significant Anti-Tumor Activity of Valemetostat in Patients with Relapsed/Refractory Adult T Cell Leukemia (ASH 2022)
Current therapy for aggressive type ATL is still unsatisfactory and prognosis of relapsed and refractory (r/r) ATL after lenalidomide or mogamulizumab treatment is poor. Valemetostat significantly reduced markers of ATL progression. Ably and sIL-2R to very low levels in all patients. In contrast, PVL assay did not exhibit complete %PVL reduction.

Angiogenin and plexin-B2 axis promotes glioblastoma progression by enhancing invasion, vascular association, proliferation and survival. (PubMed, Br J Cancer)
Angiogenin and its receptor, plexin-B2, are a pair of novel regulators that mediate invasion, vascular association and proliferation of glioblastoma cells. Inhibitors of the angiogenin-plexin-B2 axis have therapeutic potential against glioblastoma.

Increased Angiogenin Expression Correlates With Radiation Resistance and Predicts Poor Survival for Patients With Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. (PubMed, Front Pharmacol)
Furthermore, a nomogram model was generated to predict OS in terms of ANG expression. Our results found the radioresistant function of ANG and proved the clinical prognostic significance of ANG, and the results could help predict radio-sensitivity and stratify high-risk patients or tumour recurrence.
