Chromium (VI)-induced ALDH1A1/EGF axis promotes lung cancer progression. (PubMed, Clin Transl Med)
In addition, the ALDH1A1 inhibitor A37 and gemcitabine synergistically suppress LUSC progression. Importantly, high ALDH1A1 expression levels are positively correlated with advanced clinical stages and predict poor survival in LUSC patients. These findings elucidate how ALDH1A1 modulates EGF secretion from TICs to facilitate LUSC tumourigenesis, highlighting new therapeutic strategies for malignant lung cancers.

This study investigated the potential role of an ACEI perindopril as a chemosensitizer agent to sorafenib. HCC was induced in mice using a single dose of diethylnitrosamine DENA (200 mg/kg) followed by phenobarbital 0.05% in drinking water for 16 weeks...This effect was correlated with the downregulation of the leptin / Wnt / β-catenin pathway and overexpression of ALDH1 while downregulation of EpCAM. This study presents perindopril as a potential chemosensitizer agent that works through decreased expression of the leptin / Wnt / β-catenin pathway.

In conclusion, these findings demonstrated the existence of a link between melanoma ALDH1A1 expression and EC Notch signaling modification that results in a pro‑angiogenic phenotype. Based on the crucial role of ALDH1A1 in melanoma control of the tumor microenvironment, the enzyme seems a promising target for the development of novel drugs able to interrupt the cross‑talk between cancer (stem) cells and endothelial cells.

ALDH1 overexpression was significantly associated with disease relapse in invasive cervical carcinoma treated by chemoradiation (P<0.01). Determination of ALDH1 levels in pre-treatment cervical biopsies of invasive cervical carcinoma may be useful for prediction of response to chemoradiation, with high levels predicting for a poor response.

Prognostic value of circulating tumor cells and its association with the expression of cancer stem cells in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. (PubMed, Neoplasma)
Our study demonstrated a positive correlation between the CTC and the expression of CSCs, both were positively correlated with metastasis and poor prognosis. These results indicated that the CTC might indirectly reflect the expression of CSCs.
