ALB suppresses epithelial-mesenchymal transition and glycolysis via SPARC regulation in metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma. (PubMed, Biochem Biophys Res Commun)
ALB is associated with reduced proliferation, EMT, and glycolytic activity in mccRCC, potentially through its negative association with SPARC. This study provides novel insights into mccRCC pathogenesis and identifies ALB as a potential diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target.

Coexistence of familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroixinemia and papillary thyroid carcinoma: a rare case report and diagnostic challenge. (PubMed, Ther Adv Endocrinol Metab)
The proband exhibited unsuppressed thyrotropin (TSH) by levothyroxine (L-T4) monotherapy after PTC surgery, with abnormal, persistently elevated total thyroxine (T4) and free T4 levels...Increased albumin-T4 binding affinity in these patients may prevent adequate TSH suppression with L-T4 monotherapy, while DTE directly delivers triiodothyronine, without requiring peripheral conversion. Therefore, combination therapy with L-T4 and DTE may achieve effective TSH suppression in these patients.

The prognostic role of inflammation-based hematologic markers in stage I-III colorectal cancer: a retrospective analysis. (PubMed, BMC Cancer)
This multicenter study establishes nerve invasion, AGR, and NPAR as potential independent prognostic biomarkers in stage I-III CRC. The developed nomogram provides a practical tool for personalized survival prediction, which may assist in risk stratification and treatment decision-making.

IPI score as a new prognostic index in extensive stage small cell lung cancer. (PubMed, PeerJ)
The IPI score in ES-SCLC patients was associated with prognosis, with a high IPI score indicating poorer OS. These findings should be considered hypothesis-generating and warrant validation in larger prospective cohorts.

Rapid detection of NPY methylation in colorectal cancer using a singlet oxygen-based photoelectrochemical ratiometric bio-platform. (PubMed, Anal Chim Acta)
Overall, this technique demonstrated immense potential in overcoming the complexity, high costs, and need for enzymes of current strategies for hypermethylation detection and thus represents a great innovation in (photo)electrochemical sensing of aberrant DNA methylation. It, therefore, holds great promise for establishing in future a clinically relevant point-of-care testing device.

Genetic evidence for causal relationships between vegetarian biomarkers and esophageal cancer risk. (PubMed, Discov Oncol)
Our findings provide novel genetic evidence for bidirectional causal relationships between vegetarian-specific biomarkers and EC risk. These results enhance our understanding of EC pathogenesis and may inform future therapeutic strategies, particularly for vegetarian populations.

Development of a Hepatocyte-Specific Temporal Genetic Mouse Model Using Albumin Promoter-Driven FlpER2 Expression. (PubMed, Genesis)
Recombination was highly efficient and specific in hepatocytes, with no recombination detected in intrahepatic cholangiocytes or other organs in this mouse model. We generated a new tamoxifen-induced hepatocyte-specific mouse model with highly efficient recombination specifically in hepatocytes, and this model can be used to generate tumor model lines.

The intratumoral microbiota heterogenicity is related to the prognosis and tumorigenesis of cervical cancer. (PubMed, Front Cell Infect Microbiol)
Our findings provide novel insights into the relationship between intratumoral Pseudomonas and the tumorigenesis of CC. A deeper understanding of the tumor microenvironment and its associated microbiota may reveal new potential therapeutic targets and improve clinical outcomes.

Forsythoside a as a potential therapeutic agent for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: from target identification to in vitro and in vivo validation. (PubMed, Nat Prod Res)
In vitro and in vivo, FA reduced lipid accumulation and modulated TNFɑ, MMP9, and ALB expression. FA may treat NAFLD by modulating the TNFɑ/MMP9/ALB pathway, providing new therapeutic targets and insights for NAFLD treatment.

Molecular Classification of Hepatocellular Carcinoma based on Zoned Metabolic Feature and Oncogenic Signaling Pathway. (PubMed, Clin Mol Hepatol)
The loss of liver-specific metabolism correlates with morphological dedifferentiation, indicating cellular dedifferentiation may exhibit both physiological and pathological duality. Key signaling pathways involved in the maturation process from fetal to adult liver and zonation program may play a critical role in defining HCC diversity.

Exploring the potential antidepressant mechanisms of ibuprofen and celecoxib based on network pharmacology and molecular docking. (PubMed, J Affect Disord)
Ibuprofen and celecoxib primarily exert their antidepressant effects through targets and pathways related to inflammation, neural signaling, and cancer, with celecoxib showing a stronger potential antidepressant effect. The expression difference of the core target ALB between depression and healthy individuals further supports the potential effect of the drug on DD. Our findings propose new treatment strategies, support the link between inflammation and depression, and encourage reassessing existing medications for depression.

Prioritising primary care patients with unexpected weight loss for cancer investigation: diagnostic accuracy study (update). (PubMed, BMJ)
The risk of cancer in younger adults with unexpected weight loss presenting to primary care is <3% and does not merit investigation under current UK guidelines. However, in men aged ≥50 years, women aged ≥60 years, and younger patients with concurrent clinical features, the risk of cancer warrants referral for invasive investigation. Clinical features typically associated with specific cancer sites are markers of several cancer types when they occur with unexpected weight loss.
