Screening of co-pathogenic genes of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Front Oncol)
ABCC5 and TUBG1 may play an important role in the development of NAFLD to HCC. In addition, lipidization could upregulate the mRNA expression of ABCC5 in HCC.

Non-drug efflux function of ABCC5 promotes enzalutamide resistance in castration-resistant prostate cancer via upregulation of P65/AR-V7. (PubMed, Cell Death Discov)
Furthermore, activation of the NF-κB pathway reversed the effects of ABCC5 knockdown by extra AR-V7 expression. Thus, ABCC5 might be a novel target for enzalutamide-resistant CRPC treatment.

ABCC5 facilitates the acquired resistance of sorafenib through the inhibition of SLC7A11-induced ferroptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Neoplasia)
Additionally, the inhibition of ABCC5 enhanced the anti-cancer activity of sorafenib in vitro and in vivo. These findings demonstrate a novel molecular mechanism of acquired sorafenib resistance and also suggest that ABCC5 is a new regulator of ferroptosis in HCC cells.

Identification of ABCC5 Among ATP-Binding Cassette Transporter Family as a New Biomarker for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Based on Bioinformatics Analysis. (PubMed, Int J Gen Med)
The t-SNE showed that expression of ABCC5 was most concentrated in macrophages, followed by hepatocytes. ABCC5 may facilitate LIHC progression through different mechanisms and be a potential biomarker and target for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of LIHC.

Pan-cancer analysis and single-cell analysis revealed the role of ABCC5 transporter in hepatocellular carcinoma. (PubMed, Channels (Austin))
Single-cell analysis revealed a potential relationship between ABCC5 and immune cell differentiation. Therefore, it is significant to continue to explore the role of ABCC5 in hepatocellular carcinoma.
