Response to induction chemotherapy was significantly correlated with the log-transformed mRNA expression levels of ERCC1 (P=0.0054), XPA (P=0.0154), p53 (P=0.0092), DPD (P=0.0274), Bcl-2 (P=0.0135), VEGF (P=0.0213), and MDR1 (P=0.0389). Interestingly, high expression levels of these genes were significantly associated with increased sensitivity to chemotherapy.
